Course Review and Comments
Fellow Golfers - As a golfer of + 45 years - Sorry to say this is the only dog-track in LBV Town. Until Gary Player designs, and The President of Gabon approve, fund, & blesses a second 18 holes, you are stuck with this "Beauty" course. To start, the hard pack grey sand greens are impossible to play aggressively, nor intelligently, and all 16 of 18 greens do not have a blade of grass on them. Putting is a joke as your ball hits soft sandy places, slides across rock hard pans, bounces off shoe imprints, and ricochets off gravelly rocks along it ridulous path. Fairways are spotty crabgrass, and Tee boxes are tiny, uneven, and without tee markers. Local Caddies or walking only, so at least your will get some exercise while laughing at the painful lies, and layout. Out of Bounds on every hole with poor markings, no score card maps, and strange doglegs. Also, please know your yards to meters conversions as nothing is in standard golf measurements. The pin locations rarely/ never moved as the rock-sand greens are so hard that the green-keeper cannot cut a new hole to relocate pin. Did I mention the greenkeeper does not have lawn mowing equipment for maintaining the 2 greens and all fairways. So the two greens that have grass are fuzzy and painfully slow ( # 5 & 16). I have had to change out clubs, add wedges, buy chippers, and purchase new arrsonel of different clubs just to tackle the usual challenges of this beastly course & condition. Actually, 2 holes have a scenic natural water feature with lily pad pond that is attractive, but then you must get back to the course. Careful looking for lost balls in thick underbrush, and wet swampy area as a bite from a Green or Black Momabo snake will allow you only a few hours to live without helocopher nor anti-venon locally. Try not to laugh & Enjoy. DH
