Course Review and Comments
We played on September 16 of last year (2007). We would have to admit that we are somewhat predudiced when it comes to "Jim Engh" golf courses. We have never seen or played one that we didn't enjoy. Lakota Canyon was no exception. Engh's masterpiece in Newcastle lived up to our expectations in every way. Routed through Mountain valleys, ravines, uphill downhill, with incredible views and wonderful golf holes kept in fabulous condition,Lakota Canyon is an experience that shouldn't be missed by anyone in the area or passing through with a set or two of golf clubs in the back... This course is kept in exceptional condition throughout the season. The staff at the pro shop were friendly and very helpful. The course is set up to be very fair to all level of golfers, (if they play from the right tees). I always suggest that moving up one tee is the smartest move any level of golfer can make on a new golf course. All the holes on Lakota Canyon are memorable and the 18th. will hang around in the golfing brain for a long, long time. Just sitting out on the Patio overlooking the 18th. hole a long way below is inspiring by itself. We are Canadians from British Columbia who travel on at least 4 major golf and scenery trip every year, mostly in the Western side of the U.S.A, from Denver, south and west to the Pacific Ocean. Lakota Ranch rates right up there with a number of other exceptional golf experiences we've had.. We shall return.
