Course Review and Comments

For nine quid each (half-price discount voucher) this was pretty good value, although we were puzzled and disappointed by the club house being closed, this on a sunny Friday morning with the course busy with players. I'm sure there must be a reason for this!

Also the starter chappie needs to find a fresh challenge career-wise, as he clearly isn't happy in his job.

Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments Nice course, but poorly signposted at certain points if you hadn't played it before.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments The fairways were pretty burnt following recent sunny, dry weather, but in good condition under the circumstances. Greens were excellent.
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments The guy in the starters office was a typical council employee: just there to take the money, nothing else. Didn't ask if we had played the course before, didn't offer us score cards. Not even basic courtesies. Seemed more interested in watching his telly than in us.
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments The bored starter bloke pointed vaguely to a wee room across from his as our changing facilities when we asked where to change into our golf shoes. This was basically a small toilet with a bench.

The club house looked great, but we couldn't get inside as it was closed. Not sure what the story is here. A lady golfer helpfully pointed us towards a cafe in the town for our bacon rolls. Welcome to Fife! My mate and I have played many other council-owned courses, all of which have offered proper changing facilities and even basic catering/bar facilities. Not at Kinghorn, though.
