Course Review and Comments

I only played nine holes in an early December Myrtle Beach trip several years ago. But the staff couldn't have been more accomodating in making sure I got out onto the course to finish off a long day of Myrtle Beach golf.

The sixth hole, the MB famous island fairway par 5 that's nicknamed the Gambler and had a sign telling you about when I was there, is a hole you'll leave with a story about.

I haven't played as many Myrtle Beach golf courses as some people who go there all the time, but King North's was definitely one of the best Grand Strand experiences I've had.

Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments Good use of water and sand traps by Palmer's team to make a course without a ton of elevation change interesting. Some Florida course designers would benefit from a visit to get some tips.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments In good shape in December when some other courses in area weren't.
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments The people in the clubhouse obviously like and understand golfers, which sadly isn't often the case at many golf courses.
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments Pulling into the parking lot and seeing the Arnold Palmer statue is cool - and the distinctive white-colored clubhouse is huge and full of interesting golf clippings.
