Course Review and Comments
I've been playing here for years. The new management has really taken this course downhill. They will NOT close for major maintenance projects like seeding, aerating, etc, so CALL BEFORE YOU GO! Getting there to find out you can only play the back 9 really sucks.
No matter what day it is you will constantly have mowers and other equipment driving around you or in the location you are hitting a ball. Some guys are nice and turn the mowers off so you can swing, others are not. You may also have the pleasure of playing through running sprinklers every now and then, especially on the back.
There is NO driving range at this course whatsoever. If you need to warm-up before you play golf, prepare to have a hell of a time on the first holes (or front 9 for that matter).
Clubhouse staff, one guy in particular, are generally mindless zombies that lack any knowledge of running a cash register. Prices can change by the person for no known reason. One guy told me my total was "12.78 or something like that". I suggest using cash only so they don't screw up your credit card.
Ball washers are present on every hole but they are bone dry at all times. Don't waste your time with the ball/club washer on the cart either as they are also neglected. If you really need it I suggest you pack a bottle of soapy water to fill it yourself.
Cart paths in some places are bad. Two weeks ago I watched an idiot with a front end loader full of dirt pull a hard U-turn on some cart path and utterly destroyed one section of it.
Sand is not maintained at all (tilled). A ball can easily bounce out. If a ball stays in the sand it is like hitting off a solid surface.
Now for the good parts:
Food and drink at the little snack shack are really good and prices have been reduced (believe it or not). Beer has gone from $3 to $2. The girls who cook there and work the counter are pleasant and can work registers, much more so than club house staff.
For being surrounded by desert the general upkeep on the fairways and greens is decent. It is pretty green and they maintain as well as they can.
Course design is fairly fun. It is a notably difficult course in my opinion compared to the ratings of this course and other nearby courses.
Just my two cents :D

Staff is more hostile than Hillcrest in Durango. The "pro" at the course, Tom, is a complete joke and a complete asshole. He came to our group literally yelling and cussing about playing too
