Course Review and Comments
The head Pro Mike Farski headed up an investment group bought the old 'Greenfield Country Club' from the previous owners a couple years ago. They quickly renamed it 'Hawk's Tail' to signify the changes / improvements they implemented almost immediately.
While on some levels / areas it was 'business as usual', others had upgrades applied that not only made sense, but were definite improvements and welcomed, to say the least. Getting the awesome crushed aggregate limestone in all the bunkers was an outstanding improvement. If you haven't played out of these types of bunkers before, get ready for a new expectation level of playability. Granted, bunkers are meant to be penal, and these are.
To sum up the changes Farski and Co. made, they improved what needed improving and they left alone the qualities that made the course and facility a joy to play before they took ownership.
As always, service is outstanding, the course is in excellent condition, in spite of the worst drought in 41 years in central Indiana as of this writing (Oct. 2010) Additionally, it has some of the most consistent greens in the Midwest, let alone the Indianapolis metro area. No two holes are similar, with the only exception being 9 and 10, but even then, 9 has trees on the right to contend with and a two tiered green, while 10 has a bunker short right and no trees jutting out from the right.
Awesome, fair and fun, Hawk's Tail is a GREAT value, and everyone, from the course employees to the clubhouse staff to the 'regulars' that play there- they are all completely relaxed all the time and friendly and courteous. Additionally, fair booze and food prices never hurt either!

This was the worst course I played in quite some time, some greens were totally unplayable, this place is a disgrace to golf, I would give it 3.5 goats,

This is a good course that provides a reasonable challenge. The first hole has an opening of 30 yards or so that you have to drive thru about 100 yards from the tee. Small streams (creeks) run through
