Course Review and Comments
This has been my favorite course to play. It is well maintained, but unfortunately poorly managed. Every week-end for the past 3 week-end, the pace of play has been 5+ hours. One day a 7-some decided to play together after teeing off as two groups. I pointed this out to the marshall, who basically refused to do anything about it. I brought it to management's attention when I finished my round. They were very nice, said it was an exception and they would be aware of these type of issues in the future. The next week-end, the group in front of mine fell over 2 holes behind the group in front of them. Again, the marshall was uninterested in the problem. When I brought it to the pro (Beau's) attention at the end of the round, his response was basically that he did not care about pace of play and you should expect slow rounds on the week-end. I played again today (hoping these were isolated incidents, because I really love the course) and from number 3 on, we had no less than 3 groups on each tee box at every hole. The rub was that none of the groups constituted a foursome. My playing partner and I asked the 2-some in front of us if we could join them starting on number 3. They refused. I asked the marshall to see about joining some of the groups repeatedly. He indicated that the management would not permit him to do so against the groups will. At the 14th tee, 4.5 hours into my round, I gave up (my playing partner gave up at 12). Again, the person running the pro shop had no interest in fixing the problem. To their credit, he did refund my green fee. However, as much as I like the course, I will not go back until someone proves they are addressing their management issues. There is no excuse for the pace of play and it is clearly an area management has no interest in. It's not the number of players, if the groups had been properly combined, either before teeing off or on the course, it would have been slow, but manageable. The problem lies in the fact that they will not deal with slow groups which then back up the entire course. Someone about 10 holes ahead of us today was at least 2-3 holes behind as we could see that many empty holes on the back nine (from the 9th tee).
