Course Review and Comments
Hagley is a handy golf course if you're staying in one of the hotels in the center of the city. It's within easy walking distance of the hotels and has club and cart hire facilities (NZ$20 club hire NZ$5 cart hire). Clubhouse and proshop are basic but ok for shirts, caps, balls, tees, gloves. No club or bag sales from proshop. NZ$15 for 12 holes or NZ$25 for 18 holes. Hagley is a 12 hole course. 18 holes play the first 6 holes again from different tees and flag positions. Course is generally well mown and watered. Greens are mown but are fairly long and slow for anyone used to playing closely mown greens. Greens fairly small. No water hazards. Some sand traps around greens. Lots of trees. Nice parkland setting that's quite well sheltered from Canterbury warm strong nor'wester winds with buildings and hotels that surround the park. Some courses out of town are quite blowly. Most Canterbury courses are fairly flat. Some have a lot more water. 3 x par 3s & 3 x par 5s on 18 holes. 2 x 3s & 2 x par 5s on 12 holes. Most par 4s under 400. Most fairways 50 yds wide. Main hazard is OOB running/cycle track around park.

Well located next to the city center in the iconic Christchurch Hagley Park, with the Botanical gardens and the Avon River around the corner. A mix of 12 holes with short and long holes, nicely placed
