Course Review and Comments
HSM potentially could be one of the better courses in South America, given its picturesque location. Maintenance has been a problem as a result of poor planning, a recent drought, and an inadequate budget for the initial construction of the first nine.
The course should use more natural shaping, and reduce the amount of grass that needs to be watered and mowed. HSM also needs to complete a routing plan if they want to continue to allow golf carts. The second nine appears to have a better design, and a more natural feel.
The course is a lot of fun to play. The mountain surrounding create many elevation changes as well as demanding shots. The greens are large and undulating, requiring a high level of skill and creativity in the short game. The high number of forced carries may intimidate higher handicappers.
