Course Review and Comments
I wanted to share a few comments regarding my recent golfing experience at
the Greens of Deerfield.
My friend and I made a reservation for Saturday June 23 at 10:10. We both
had previously played the course a few years ago and could not wait to get
back. The opportunity came about on June 23, and we arrived an hour early,
was told tee times were proceeding as planned and on time with no delays. A
twosome was in front of us and an foursome behind us. We were told the pace
was always equivalent to a foursome. I noticed the signs of the front of
the clubhouse reminded everyone "No Private Coolers" and we did honor that
sign, and a second sign caught my eye. "Pace of Play is a Priority." I did
appreciate that! Then reality began. There was no Starter, and soon I
learned there was no Ranger to monitor pace of play, and without a personal
cooler in temperatures above 90 degrees, no beverage cart, and the 9/10
holes did not allow return to the clubhouse. Then I notice the twosome in
front of us were hitting three balls every shot and waiting on par four
greens to clears before teeing off. At hole 12, I realized we had been on
the course for four hours. Hot, thirsty and somewhat frustrated, we left
after paying a 100 dollars to enjoy 18 holes. As we were leaving, we
noticed a six-some playing on hole 17. Thanks for the experience and
opportunity to not consider future outings. As usual, I share my experience
with all of our golfing friends and this will not be an exception. A message
similar to this will be posted on my Facebook and Twitter golfers.
Again thanks,
Ken Armstrong
