Course Review and Comments
The course was closed for 2 years when Bill Creavy leased it from the city appx 1980-81. I worked there from 1981-1985-ish. We had it looking and playing during that time better than any time since and it had a very active Men's Club. Bill died in 1985 and it hasn't been close to that playability since. It will take a new irrigation system and lots of water to make it happen. It has a nice layout and the fairways are lined with tall eucalyptus trees. It originally played across what is now the 60 fwy but was reconfigured to allow for the freeway. This is the reason for the mounds in places you would not expect them on the course. Last I heard (mid 2013)they closed it for rehab. Let's hope they get it right as it is a great place for everyone to learn the game. It is flat, short and always been a great price.

They still need their Pitching green installed, but that will happen in time. I love playing this course. One minor issue.....the tiny pond on #5 needs maintenance and maybe some fresh water.

This course is what it is...a good course for beginners both price-wise and playability. It's flat and not too long.

The golf course and the management lack money and direction to keep it updated. However there are two good instructors at Fairmount. Bill and Steve both provide a great deal of teaching experience. I

I like this course because it is a real challenge. If you can beat this course, you can beat any course. This course is the Mother of all courses!(And at a good price)
