Course Review and Comments
Eastwood is the best municipal course in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. The front side takes you through a tighter, thinly wooded preserve area while the back side is more open, with more in the way of water hazards. The tee shot at #10 - entirely over water and angled so that every yard you try to cut off adds several yards of carry - is both the most compeling, visually, and the most intimidating. The greens have a good deal of slope in them, but rarely run more than maybe an eight. The most challenging thing about Eastwood's greens isn't the pitch, but the pronounced grain - pay close attention to whether you're rolling on shiny or dull grass, and adjust your speed and line accordingly. Because the course gets a great deal of play, the greens are generally kept a little shaggy. Whether you live in the area, or are just visiting, Eastwood is worth playing.
