Course Review and Comments
I have played several rounds at Eagle Creek. Today was probably my last. The shortcomings far out number the enjoyment of the course layout. Before I played today, my previous round was about 6 months ago. That day, my friend and I (a two-some) had the unfortunate privilege of following a pro giving a playing lesson to a woman. The pro never acknowledged that there was anyone behind them and never let anyone through. By the last hole, there were three groups waiting behind them. After complaining at the pro shop we were offered a complimentary round if we would come back next week. Unfortunately, we don't get to play every week and that didn't help us in any way. I had not been back until today. I thought I would give the course another chance since it is relatively close to my home. Well, my threesome played the first three holes pretty quickly and soon found ourselves at the tail end of five groups playing the par 5 fourth hole. Word quickly passed down that there was a 5-some playing ahead and that was the reason for the slow play. I called the clubhouse and told the pro shop there was a 5-some out here that was slowing up play. The person in the pro shop seemed disinterested but said they would send someone out. They never did. Complaining to the cart girl and the girl in the snack bar at the turn did nothing either. It was a day when our 3-some should have played in about 3 hours, but instead we were subjected to uncomfortable waiting after nearly every single shot. We pulled up behind the 5-some on several tee boxes and they never even looked at us. Upon completion of the round I expressed my disappointment to the bag rats. They said to pass it on to the pro shop. I did this and was told by the guy behind the counter that it was the GM's call to allow the 5-some because they were friends of the owner. He just shrugged at that point. So there you have it. The only way I recommend playing this course is if you are absolutely sure that you will be the first ones off in the morning. Other than that, plan on 5 hours and if you're done earlier, consider yourself lucky.
