Course Review and Comments

I tell anyone who's listening that Sand Ridge -- both Lakes and Dunes -- is the best course for the money that I've ever played on.
Yes, the conditions can vary but only because they are constantly working to improve the course. And it's even more impressive when you consider the heavy traffic the course gets as a full public access facility.
The staff is friendly and professional and welcoming. I cannot say enough good things about this course.
Courses like SR allow people on a budget like me to play challenging courses without breaking the bank and I greatly appreciate that.
You can walk the course in the winter when it cools down. Otherwise, rent a golf cart for the summer months.
Playing from the tips is very challenging and can make the Par 3s very long and narrow. I play from the blue tees routinely and that's long enough for me.
Finally, the course and surroundings are beautiful. The holes develop on their own terms, and aren't surrounded by condos or other artificial impediments. Clearly, the builders had a lot of room to play with. There is lots of bird life and other fauna -- including gators -- that are not fazed by human contact. You can get very close to them in their natural environment. Bring a camera.
