Course Review and Comments

Get on while you can. In 2013 this place is finally going fully private. Awesome addition to any Pinehurst-area trip you may make in the coming months.

Ratings

Date course was played Tuesday 28th of August 2012
Price paid for golf 70
Price comments Paid $70 (reduced from rack rate of $115 due to temp green on #9) plus $70 for caddie. Great, great experience for the price.
Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments Walk this course. Great C&C design. Tough but fair, few forced carries but many different ways available to play each hole. Lots of waste areas if you find them but very hard to lose a ball. Pick the right set of tees and add 200+ yds to manage the elevation changes you'll encounter. Tough stretch of holes on 10-11-12-13. Great course overall. Very enjoyable.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments Temp green on #9 the day we played and a few other questionable ones on #15 and #16 maybe? It's been a hot summer, followed by recent heavy rainfall which can wreak havoc. In the fall, this course should shape up very nicely. A few more well-defined walking areas cutting through the protected areas from the teeboxes would help; watch your step
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments Knowledgable caddies and great staff in the pro shop/clubhouse. Felt like a very nice private course that also lets in public play, for now
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments No frills, for now, just how I like it. All golf. Understated old hunting lodge for the clubhouse. Relaxed atmosphere and a couple opptys to stop at the halfway house (7,10,14) with out & back routings.

They do push caddies here, but I don't think they are necessary. We played without aid of a caddy or laser. Most sprinkler heads now have yardages written on them. This is a fantastic layout. Defi ... more»

A real goat tract. There's nothing good I can say about this golf course. If you like goofy golf, you'll love this place. The dirt cart paths were dusty but fairly smooth. The fairways were almost b ... more»

The Dormie Club is a bit of a challenge to find, as it is "off the beaten path", so to speak, from the many courses in the Sandhills area. Dormie is a very nice addition to the wonderful gol ... more»

I don't understand why this course is not getting better reviews - I loved it as did the other 3 in my foursome. Other than the brutal heat, the day was perfect and the people at the course could not ... more»
