Course Review and Comments
Two very distinct 9's - the front is flattish, with lots of berms, and winds through a residential development. Holes 1-3 are rather vanilla, nice to warm-up on. 4-8 feature water and more strategy, 9 is a strong Par 4, excellent golf hole. The back 9 is as unique as they come, with the final 7 holes being perched on a desert hillside. 10 & 11 are strong, decent holes. The 12-15 sequence features extreme elevation changes, narrow landing areas, trees, water, target style - very pretty and very penal. 16-18 are longer, still narrow, but more straightforward. I downrate the design only because it appears to me this terrain could have been better utilized to improve playability and still retained the remarkable vistas and 'edge of the earth' characteristic that seem to be it's defining point. I'd play it again, but would probably not use anything much bigger than 5 iron on any of these later holes - just so I would have better chances of keeping the ball in play. Great practice range, nice folks and facility, especially for a small out-of-the-way kind of course.
