Course Review and Comments

This is the site of the 2010 US Amateur and the 2015 US Open. I can see why it was chosen. It is an amazing golf course. The problem is that it opened in June, 2007, and we played it in February. The greens were not in very good shape. They were bumpy and very slow. Right now, the bumps and humps that border almost every fairway are, like the greens, very new, and the look like they have been raked with a 100 foot rake. Very unattractive. The clubhouse is OK and the restaurant is also OK - but not what you would expect from such an expensive (we played offseason at half price) course. Still, it is a links course, amazingly challenging and brilliantly designed. When it matures it will rightly take its place, in my opinion, among the ton ten courses in the country. For those of us who live near Seattle and for whom Bandon Dunes is a long trip, we now have a taste of Bandon in the Puget Sound. I think that within a year or two this golf course will make it worthwhile to fly in to play from another state to play.

Absolutely stunning...amazing views and a tough challenge. The whole course is just carved out of sand dunes. It feels like your playing in Scotland. Big slow greens undulate when you don't expect ... more»
