Course Review and Comments
I'd not only highly recommend the course but I'd say it's a must for any golfer in the Bologna area even for just 9 holes. The staff there, especially Michele and Alice, are extremely professional and friendly.
The whole atmosphere at Casalunga is something I'm not going to forget for a long time. The friendly competitive spirit of my partners for the day (Barbara V. and Andrea S.) added to the pleasure and their helpful advice about the course was also greatly appreciated.
As far as the course is concerned there are some surprises on most fairways, a couple of which are narrow and call for accurate shots. Irons are probably the best even from the tee.
The short game and the long game are both tested here. The 2nd/11th hole is a bit risky as I imagine not a few balls have never been seen again as they fly over and down a steep bank to the left or lost over to the right with a second shot as you try to avoid a tree right in the middle of the line to the green.
The 7th/16th hole which seems quite wide until you realize it has some very long grass stranding guard along middle and means more tight play.
The greens are very well looked-after and can offer some difficulties if you don't read them properly, as I found out when taking a third putt on most of them while going round the first nine.
The 19th hole with its all glass walls was also most enjoyable with a nice cool beer and a good view of the 9th/18th hole!
