Course Review and Comments
Growing up in the south I always heard tales of this little 9 hole wonder in the heart of East Texas and I dreamed of one day testing my skills on what can only be described as the only true test of a golfer's abilities. Unfortunately, for years the nearest liquor store was a 30 minute drive from the course...too far for your buddy Long John. But then the stars aligned and let's just say this fair town wasn't the only thing that became wet last year. I completely soiled my neon pink Loudmouth slacks at the thought of finally getting to play Birmingham without fear of dealing with the dreaded mid-round alcohol withdrawals that come with playing golf in a dry county. The next time I made it to Texas I had my driver re-route the Hooters bus through Rusk so I could fit in a quick 18. I was definitely not disappointed. From what I can remember this was one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I've had in all my years of playing. I did pass out for a while mid-round and when I awoke on the 14th tee to the feeling of the owner's three legged dog licking my face I thought for a second I was in Heaven. Luckily I was only passed out for a few hours and I still had time to finish my round.
Pros: No Dress Code(Shirts Optional)
Cons: Not enough diet cokes, tough to get the Hooters tour bus up the driveway
