Course Review and Comments

As a twosome, we noticed five players in front of us on the back nine. We waited until the 12th hole, a par 3 and after they had hit and drove to the green, we passed them, intending to skip the hole and get ahead of them. I signaled to one of the players as we passed that we were skipping and going onto the next hole. The next hole, a par 5 we could see a group ahead who were on their second of third shots, and we hit our drives at that time. When we went out to our balls. the group we had just passed ran up to the tee box and I could see that they were intending to hit their drives into us, and that is exactly what happened.. I yelled back to them "What, are you crazy" We than went onto our balls for our next shot and the three carts pulled up to us, using foul language and stating they were in a tournament and that we didn't know golf etiquettte. I approached a Blond haired man and asked if it was proper to hit into people with their drives and at that point was pushed in the chest by the blond man, and another shorter man was sceaming and using obscenities to us.. I did not want to have to fight five younger men who were ready to assault me and told them I was a retired Police Officer and was told, they did not give a f--k and the shorter would kick my a-- if I weren't such an old man.
I called the club house and the yound lady could hear the language that was going on, and I asked her if she could hear that, and she replied "yes" I was told that the club Pro would come out and at that point, we picked up our balls and left the course and went to the club house.
Apparently this group plays every Wednesday in an informal "shoot-out" and are members of the Baytree course. At the club house, I spoke with the young girl and the register and a young man and explained the situation. How I was physically assaulted (pushed in the chest with both hands) and harrassed and threatened, but was told that there was nothing they could do about it. My partner who had made the tee times, asked for his money back, but was denied. Than they offered us a rain check for nine holes in the future. We have both played this course numerous times in the last four years, but these actions by members and the lack of concern by the staff have left an extremely sour taste in my mouth..
I am a 63 year old retired professional and the lack of concern by the staff was extremely disapointing. At one point I asked if they could call the Sheriff's department for me and they refused stating, I would have to call and they would not get involved. I asked for the names of the last group in this mini-tournament and they would not furnish that infomation, stating they didn't have the names. If that is the way members of your club demonstrate their appreciation of you club, perhaps a better screening should be done in the future...
