Course Review and Comments
Many of the members at AAC will tell you that they bring their friends/clients/etc to play Highlands, but they will choose to play Riverside for most of their rounds.
Riverside is a much more aesthetically pleasing course...not that Highlands isn't, but Riverside is absolutely gorgeous. It is also a lot of fun to play, as it is challenging, but rewarding. The greens are perfect in the spring and fall. The fairways are like pristine carpet (in a good way...not like mats on a driving range).
The 3rd hole is a beautiful par 5 that can be reached in two, but there is VERY LITTLE chance that a long second shot can hold the green. Lay-up, and you have a very good shot at birdie. As I said, very rewarding if you know how to play the awesome layout.
Condition is nearly always perfect. The only time condition becomes a concern is when the heat is abnormally high, and the bent greens get stressed. But they still hold up MUCH better than most bent greens in Georgia because of the fabulous irrigation systems and green-side fans on Riverside.
The facilities are the best in Atlanta (no course can come close to challenging AAC in this category).
