Course Review and Comments

Bit of a proviso here. Living in Cyprus and as a member of the CGF, I get plenty of opportunities to play AH. This also accounts for the low price paid.

With that out of the way, AH is vastly overpriced for the visiting golfer and the quality of golf available is certainly not reflected in the green-fees charged.

Over the last 12 months or so, the course has been in dire condition. The greens are a bit like putting on very old and very cracked concrete.

Work has been going around the green surrounds (at a very slow pace) and one of our group actually lost a ball in a bunker, which had become flooded.

Think of AH as a collection of rather pretty villas with a golf course plonked in the middle, not the other way round.

The layout is bland. The condition of the course is very sub-par and the greens are terrible. Touted as a Championship course - it's patently not. No way you could walk the course.

One tee is over 3km from the preceding green and involves a very tricky descent down a very steep incline.

The course could have been a great test of golf. Unfortunately, the course was designed around plots slated for housing developments. After all, you can't exactly build a villa in a ravine, but you can put a golf hole there.

The facilities are pretty much the only saving grace. Friendly and polite staff, nice clubhouse / restaurant, changing rooms and lockers.

Pity the golf is what it is.
