Course Review and Comments
One of the reviews complained about credit card fraud, so I inquired before handing mine over. It was not the result of some dishonest employee fishing copies out of the trash, but a problem with the company that services their accounts. They assured me the problem had been fixed and a review of our last credit card bill revealed no unexplained charges.
I played this course twice in early 2012 and while my game was pretty rusty after a 5 month lay off it was quite enjoyable. The first round was with an 88 year old gentleman who played from the red tees. I am only 9 months shot of my 80th birthday, so I was not particurarly embarrassed to join him. The second round I played from the white tees. From the reds it plays alot like an executive course though, of course, without all of the par 3's.
One of the descriptions of the course describes the number of water hazzards on the course as "heavy." My handicap suggest that if anyone was going to have a problem here it would have been me. However the fairways are quite wide and only two tee shots and no approaches fail to offer a bail out option. I have played on other Florida courses where the water can cause real problrms. This is not one of them. My handicap was less than half of what it is now 40 years ago, so I am no beginner but the generic words about it being suitable for players of all skill level is quite correct in this instance.
One review complained about the very large and slick greens and another about difficult rough. True, the greens are very, very fast and you can expect more than a few 3 putts unless you play them enough times to get used to them. Nonetheless, one has to be in awe of their immaculate condition and the way they hold the ball. I remember hitting an eight iron to one green and finding the ball mark 6 inches beyond my ball. They are outstanding! I don't know what the golfer who comlained about the rough was talking about. Didn't seem a problrm at all.

I stopped at Abacoa GC for a round of golf while traveling thru the area on business. For public golf, the greens are as good as your higher end private clubs. Fairways were decent. The old divots had

The rough is deep and will penalize poor tee shots and the bunkers need some work. However, the tees, faiways and greens are a pleasure to play. The greens at Abacoa are consistantly fast and smooth
