Decent
Played as part of a 4-ball. Enjoyable, hilly at times. Birdies to be got. Miss the fairway at your peril, laying up was the flavour of the day.
Course conditions
I know there had been a lot of rain greeas were good apart from the 17th fairways like semi rough so no chance of controlling golf ball which made it tricky but layout ok bit hilly if your not fit.
Overall if there is money spent on the course IE tees which were at best the poorest I have played off condition wise it could be a great we course
Excellent Course at a reasonable price!
My first time playing the course and although I arrived late (due to the GolfNow app adding a calendar invite for an hour after my tea time) the staff we're accommodating enough to fit me in. The gentleman in the clubhouse gave me a brief induction to the course layout and informed me of the hazards to avoid and even ran out to guide me to the first tea when I was a little bit lost.
Overall I would highly recommend playing here and I will definitely be booking in again.
Nice to try for a cheap round
First time playing, good to try a new course on a great plot with great views and very friendly staff/members. Unfortunately the weather was very wet in the week prior so the course was very wet and fairly muddy in spots. Two temp greens which is understandable, but we were only told on arrival that 17 & 18 were entirely closed - thought that should’ve been flagged in advance. For £15 can’t complain but be aware you get what you pay for: bunkers unplayable, tee boxes awful, greens very long/slow/bumpy, tiny flags, etc. Enjoyed the day for a purely social cheap round but be aware of course conditions.
Overpriced with holes closed
Paid £20 a man for 18 holes. 2 holes closed and quite a few winter greens still in use. Play a lot here but wasn’t impressed with the price for what was available on the day
Calverly Golf Course
Very hilly course. Course in general was in good condition. Winter greens in use due to ongoing green maintenance. Holes 1- 16 in use only due to further maintenance.
Crap
Don’t go here if it’s not summer. Winter greens everywhere with 10ft putting holes. Really disappointed.
For the time of year the course was in reasonable condition. However final two holes are not playable and therefore you can choose to play another two holes again at the end.
Staff in the shop will explain the changes.
Great day!
Staff at Calverley were brilliant, the course was very nice with only the 17 green having had the dreaded rabbits! Other than that would highly recommend a visit.
Not as bad as previous reviews suggest.
A great course at an excellent price, well worth the visit if you're local. The course is a challenge, the fairways were well kept, the majority of the greens were in good condition, the 17th wasn't great, and the 18th had a sprinkler we had to dodge, but they're minor when the round cost £12. The 5th hole is a beauty and worth the cost alone! The course could be signposted better, we had a bit of confusion of the 8th tee and which fairway to hit, which for some reason angered a couple of the senior ladies. The only blip on a great day out. Will be returning.
