Confusing layout
The course itself was in quite good condition but the signage was virtually non existent. It was difficult figuring out where to go next on finishing a hole. Most of the holes you tee off blind due to either the hills or some other obstacle. The course is a very compact double 9 so don’t expect too much variety. All in all I wouldn’t recommend it when there are so may other courses around. The only redeeming feature was the price but whether that makes it good value is debatable.
Awesome course, great value!
We arrived early so didn’t expect amenities to be open. The course was in amazing condition and played really well. Members were all really friendly but a couple of foursomes pushed in front for a comp and started on the 6th, holding us up a bit. We had a great round and the short nature of the course helps high handicappers like myself shoot low. We went round in an 87 and 85 and don’t always break 90.
Need a Map!
A shame really. The price was the same as you get on the day so no discount or saving or offer.
I had to walk off after three holes. No maps directions or signs.
A shame really.
The on line booking system was easy to use friendly members tough course
Good course you need to play with a member if possible could find it hard if not some blind holes but a course in good condition, could find it difficult if weather was poor but would advise visitors a must play course plenty of hills but enjoyable
Prepare for a hike, rude golfers and bumpy greens
This course is hilly. Don't play if you want a casual game without losing your breath. Spent most of the outing pushing my trolley up hills and trying to compose myself before teeing off.
Confusing when working out where the next hole is and bizarre having two different tees for hole 1/10.. Causes problems when people tee off from both at the same time. Sign posting could be vastly improved. Most holes have blind tee shots as well, so if you don't know the course, you're guessing where to aim.
Came across a few groups playing ahead of us / across us who were quite rude and seemed to think they owned the course. Entitled, arrogant behaviour which is enough to put me off playing this course again. A shame, but suppose it's to be expected playing in Ben Rhydding/Ilkley.
Greens weren't great and most had worn patches that had to be navigated to attempt putts.
Overall, I can't recommend the course. Don't bother. There are better courses for the price.
Great course that provides a challenge.
Lovely course with some big challenges. Great views all around, especially the views up to the Cow & Calf. The course was in great condition consider the recent snow and rain we've had, the only real issue cam with the third green which was very damp and the hole was flooded.
There were no staff to be seen at the clubhouse, nor many people on course.
Overall it made for a great round and we will be back in the spring and summer.
Golftastic
Great course with interesting layout and challenging holes
Unique Little Course
Great little bill side course. Not the longest holes but challenging tee/green locations. Fantastic views and very well kept.
Fantastically Quirky
Been Rhydding golf club is a proper little gem. A really nicely kept course set into the side of a hill commanding picturesque views, it can be a of a steep walk at times but you're rewarded with some spectacular elevated tees and exciting blind shots. The back 9 is predominantly the same holes with a few different tee boxes. Always a cheap tee time available and wonderfully friendly. Massively recommended!
Nice course; but strenuous
I've played this course before, but only as a 9; this time, we played the full 18 holes and that was quite hard work, as there is a lot of "up" on this course.
There are only 9 greens, so you play most holes twice, although a couple have different tee off positions, so you get some different views throughout. Talking of the views; this is positioned in a lovely spot at the top of the wharfe valley underneath the Cow & Calf, so it has some great positions.
All in all, not a long course, but challenging and definitely needs some local knowledge to play well.
Tricky, short, but fun.
So much fun. Ditch the driver. Shout ‘fore !” often and be ready to duck when you hear it!
In nice condition, remarkable value for money and deserted at 8am on a Saturday. Unforgettable.
Hilly 9 hole
Course in good condition and only 9 holes . No course cards , no facilities and no staff …. Honesty box . Fantastic views , very picturesque. Many blind holes and hard to navigate. Only saw 2 other players . Very steep in places - fitness required to fully enjoy. Greens and fairways good ….. a very unique short course for the fit and healthy !
