Very interesting back 9
Played here in November 2022 but had to go around the front 9 twice as the back 9 was closed. This time all 18 holes were open and we thought the back 9 was great! Some very different holes from what we’ve ever played previously at other courses. Overall good value and an enjoyable round at a nice place. Only negatives - I thought the greens were in poor condition and many of the bunkers need sorting out
Double booked us
Golf now double booked our pair so we had 2 strangers playing with us. Avisford said it was Down to golfnow and said they do it all the time. Golf now said the course manager allowed it to happen to maximise the tee times available. Not acceptable really, the option should be given to opt out of additional tee time sharing.
Great value good greens
Very nice course. Both nines challenging and quite different. Greens very good. Cheap for Saturday round to.
Great all round value
Played a Friday after heavy rain the previous day. Although greens were a little wet, which in understandable, overall course condition was excellent. Breezed round in 3.5 hours in a two ball. Very quiet, and no waiting at any hole. Hot deal of £22 made this a place I would return to again.
Nice elevated 2nd 9 holes.
Not a bad little course at a fair price. There are some great holes on the second 9 holes. Although a short course there are not many large greens so you have to be accurate with iron play. Need some signage for the holes as some dont have any. Course condition was solid without being excellent. Overall a nice course particularly the second nine. First 9 a bit dull
Course In Excellent Condition
The course was in excellent condition. I could see the attention being given to maintaining it. Everybody on and off the course was very friendly. Hopefully the course will now remain open in its current format as the two halves complement each other. The course has been under threat for some time due to the proposed bypass and new housing nearby.
Slow play
I've played Avisford quite a few times as it's a decent course, but on this occasion we were a two ball playing behind a four, but only two of them had clubs! There was no course etiquette as regards letting us play through, so we were held up on every hole on the front nine watching them run backwards and forwards across fairways and greens to share clubs, unbelievable! (so obviously no one 'policing' the course) Thankfully they only played the first nine holes as we played eighteen.
It was also disappointing to see the practise net lying in an untidy heap on the ground.
Definitely not as well run since it was taken over and re-opened, although the course is in a reasonably good condition
Really poor course management!
What a shambles of a golf course, it took over 5 hours to play as a two ball, the club had let a group of 5 go out who had clearly never played golf before and were drinking heavily.
There was about 8 groups waiting by the 4th hole, I called up the golf club and they said that they had let them on and weren’t going to speak about it. Eventually had to skip 3 holes otherwise wouldn’t have finished in under 6/7 hours - will not return.
Thursday afternoon
I was greeted by a member of staff who said we could go off when we wanted.
He also gave me a few pointers of how the course was laid out.
I thought the course was was exceptional and it consists of 2 halves the front nine very mature and flattish and the back nine more hilly and open but the rough is proper rough.
Overall a very enjoyable afternoon's golf.
Many thanks.

Course and clubhouse
To make this a top course club house needs upgrading and a driving range in place, now the A27 is on hold again
Course in excellent condition considering weather
Good round of golf not busy so no hold ups , excellent service from staff
Welcoming staff and a challenging course
I found this course really challenging, but I am a complete newbie and so I’ll put that more to my skill than the course being a monster. Great variation on the back 9 with amazing views. The course makes you work out creative ways to get around but you have to strike consistently well or you’ll burn through golf balls like no tomorrow. Lots of fourball groups meant I was held up a bit, but everyone was friendly and waved me through when possible. The staff are a credit to this club, couldn’t help enough and you could tell that they cared about the experience here.
