Winter golf
Course was in great condition, fast greens and the ground had firmed up from when I played 2 weeks ago. For £15 this is great value for money, I would say it’s a relatively easy course to play with most of the challenge coming from the right hand side if you suffer from the odd slice like myself (the river Tyne runs alongside).
The course was a pleasant surprise
I recommend any one to play here.
Good value for money the Winter Tee boxes were good to play from and the greens were in great condition. Also a picturesque area with a river one side and the trains the other side makes for a nice area to play.
Brilliant course conditions
Course played incredibly well despite all the rain. Greens were superb and it was honestly like playing summer golf. I will definitely be back in the summer to see if it could get any better. Really enjoyable experience and the only negative was being quite a compact course we were sometimes waiting for other groups to finish holes or teeing off directly over/towards others. Much more likely down to my ability and confidence as a high handicapper but would definitely think a low-medium handicap would enjoy this challenge more.
Lovely course.
Lovely greens, some challenging tight tees. Barman kept the bar open for us coming in at dusk. 🙌
Too many white leaves
Have played this course a number of times and it doesn’t get any better. Don’t get me wrong it’s ok and is fun to play. The big problem is the white leaves on the course mean that it’s is difficult to find balls. Ended up playing with a red ball !
Good Value for Money for guests
Compact course layout which made it a relatively quick 18-hole round. Sometimes difficult to find the next tee box but nothing that detracted from the enjoyment of the round. We played after heavy rain so the greens were quite sponge-like, however there were no 'swampy' areas anywhere on the course, even after a lot of rain! Overall a nice course to play and good value for money.
Absolutely disgusting
Course layout is an absolute shambles constantly crossing over other holes, slow play and members think they are entitled, don’t even think about having a shandy after your game because you will be reported for drink driving. Avoid at all costs.
Great day on a great course
Lovely course at a reasonable price, very friendly and helpful staff at the pro shop and the bar, the golf course it’s self is in very good condition overall but don’t stray into the second cut as it’s hard to find your ball and if you are lucky enough to find it it’s a wedge to get it out, but didn’t spoil the day in any way
Really poor layout, but friendly staff
The layout of this golf course is truly poor. On several occasions the tees required us to hit directly over other tees and greens, and the routes from green to tee had us walking back on ourselves and into oncoming players from all over the course.
Especially bad was the par 4 12th - the tees are directly behind the previous par 3 green, and the tee requires you to hit directly back towards the 11th tees, with a public foot path running right behind the tees and all the way along the right of the hole.
Another issue is the yardage markers - they are simply not at the right yardages. On at least 3 holes, the 100 yard markers were placed well over 110 yards from the middle of the greens - as tested against various rangefinders.
The course was kept in fine condition, however the layout really made for a less enjoyable round.
Can’t honestly say we’ll be back, but the woman running the bar was very friendly and we at least enjoyed the drinks.
Walked Off
Though the course is in decent condition this time of year the pace of play is the slowest you will ever experience playing golf, it took us 2 hours and 25 minutes to play 10 holes, with 3 playing groups backed up on the 11th tee off box before we decided to walk off. Do play here if you’ve got the time.
Bestvto play here in the summer
