Very poorly maintained course

Greens were totally unplayable with big long tufts of grass, areas of no grass and large cracks and bumps. Some of the tees weren’t cut. Usually it’s a beautiful course but it’s in a state of significant disrepair right now.

Don't play here

The staff were lovely but I can't give this any more stars just in case it gives it more than 1/5 overall. This is definitely a 0/5 course but it wouldnt let me leave the stars blank.

Everything was is in horrific conditions it was actually laughable. Long grass, weeds and mole hills on the 'greens' and in the 'bunkers'.

They said they're not investing because they're hoping to get planning permission for a new course. I'd recommend closing until then. This isn't suitable for any level of golfer.

Never reviewed anything before but this course got me angry I even paid 15 for it.

5.50 for a Mars bar, twix and lucozade was also a joke.

Enjoyable day but poor greens

We are not great players - beginners so draw and fade a lot (or top), and we do this for a social rather than for competitive reasons.

We read the reviews and were prepared / happy at the cost for the round for the course condition.

Rough is very long, short rough is very long, fairways are medium to long, greens are pretty awful, bunkers are OOB and overgrown. Tees are not wonderful either.

The front 9 of course is relatively straight forward and a little plain but the back 9 is much more fun and in better condition mostly, what is harder for someone not being there is finding the tee's to a hole as signage is lack.

It is pretty course with nice water and a couple of great short par 3's - the geese walk across the fairway totally not bothered when you 5 feet away.

In conclusion, yes the greens are poor, and its clear this course is struggling financially, so playing here isint great but, for the price 10-15 a round and if it keeps it open then its worth it.

Don’t bother

This course used to be very nice. Great layout and has potential to be amazing. Shame they have let it go to pot. Just don’t bother, it’s unplayable. Waiting to be renovated but could at least keep it playable. Shocking, walked off after 2 holes.

Greens spoil your day

Cannot recommend this course at all due to the greens.
The greens are terrible. They are rutted, cracked, and grass cover is very sparse which spoils your enjoyment of the course. The lack of care and money being spent is obvious due to the sale situation. A real shame as it is in a beautiful setting and was once a joy to play with good greens and a well-maintained course. We stopped after 9 holes as we were not enjoying the experience.

Unkept but potentiel to be great

The course was unkept, apparently due to a plan to renovate over three years. Therefore greens were cracked and brown and the rough was impossible to play from. It was an Ideal course for a complete novice and staff were friendly.

Absolute rip off

You should not be selling this golf course . It is closing within the next month they told us.No maintenance is being carried out snd unless you are able to stay on the fairway it ends up in a lost ball,We played nine holes and came off but should of came off earlier.

Course Condition

They aren't kidding about the course condition.

However for the price for 18 holes it's good value when you compare it to practicing at a driving range. You aren't going to want to put a handicap score in but the course was quiet enough on a Friday afternoon that we played shots a couple of times and it was good practice. Viewed like this the course was fine.

Needs to be shut down immediately

Cannot believe I was charged £20 to play here. This course needs to be shut down, it’s completely wrong they are still taking people’s money. A pitch and putt for kids wouldn’t even leave their greens in this condition. Never returning.

Great value but poor condition awaiting redevelopment but good value!

It’s a bit like visiting a recently abandoned stately home! The fairways are OK but you need to accept poor tees, greens and bunkers as this once superb course awaits redevelopment. It does however offer great value for money and the layout is superb.
We were made to feel welcome and enjoyed a great afternoon on the course but if you have high expectations it’s not for you!

Poor

Went here today, walked off after 9 holes. Greens literally unplayable, tee boxes shocking.
Feel sorry for the staff trying their best but you cannot have this course open for business. Played here before and it was brilliant, but as it is now, it’s simply not ready. Waste of my time, will be requesting a refund.

Great course awaiting redevelopment

The good news is that this is a fabulous course with a spacious layout. It is currently applying for planning to redevelop the site and if given will close for sometime. Because of this, current maintenance is a bare minimum with abandoned bunkers, poor tees and very patchy greens. The long fare ways are fine and we had a very enjoyable round.
I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants a bit of an adventure at a very reasonable cost. If you are a golf purist looking for perfection, it’s not for you!

Its now a sorry state of a course

Me and my buddies have played here many times and although it is not on the MyEG golf app we enjoy the layout and the price, even though the bunkers were never that good.

Now the bunkers are out of play, despite most bunkers having two rakes in them, pointless.

And the greeens have suffered from a broken irrigation system. So there is little grass on the greens and we were giving ourselves putts from 1meter as everything bobbled, bounced and kicked off line.

We know there are big plans for this place, but this will be our last time here. the course layout is great, really enjoyable but the state of the course is now unplayable.

Sad, very sad.
