The course in general is a decent course but some of the Fairways were really long in places. I think this course lacks the maintenance and up keep it needs. Espacially for the money at £45 per person for 18 holes.
Disappointed
Most of the front nine of temporary greens. Wasn’t told this until we got there. It’s like a construction site. Greens overall were dreadful and they should just close the front nine completely. Should advertise more that they are re developing the course. Not good
Under Construction
Course undergoing construction works. Not advertised or mentioned by GolfNow on website at time of booking or after booking within confirmation. Found out when we turned up. Course a mess. 6 holes on temp greens and massively shortened and the other greens that were not under construction had been Aerated (i'd say day before) so ball bobbled all over the place.
Paid £35 for the privelage. I understand Maint happens and its to make the course better in long run but in the meantime dont rip people off with a £35 fee and at least warn people in advance so they can make the call. Very Poor
Overall Average
Course undergoing work. Not mentioned on Website or Golf Now. Three holes substituted with 3 Par 3s on Temp Greens. Not good.
Otherwise the course was pleasant.
Staff very friendly but no mention of the ongoing works when checking in.
Overall still a pleasant game. Will return when the works are completed.
Enjoyable course
This is an enjoyable course. I have reduced the star rating on some points only because a few holes have got some major groundwork’s going on that will improve those holes. The course is well maintained and a pleasure to walk around. It is not a course where the high handicapper loses lots of golf balls but it does have some testing holes.
I would play there again next time I’m in the area.
Very nice course. Well maintained and some interesting risk/reward holes. Play off 9 , thoroughly enjoyed course
Very poor conditions
Not much more to say, this course is in ruin from the run down clubhouse to the greens. This is the worst condition course in the region and the cost to play is outrageous
Will be BRILLIANT
We booked this course to change things up. Great facilities and good welcome. First 9 fantastic and we had a great time (besides my score). 2nd 9 was a slight issue in terms of communication, ALL the back 9 bunkers were having work done and were fenced off. I feel this could of been shared at the start of the day from the reception. This didn't make a massive difference but I feel it's something that should be shared.
Overall experience good, would go back after work is complete.
Back 9 was hugely disappointing
The front 9 was okay, nothing to really write home about other than the ludicrous number of bunkers. The back 9 was a complete building site! Fenced off areas everywhere, 3 holes so short they would be out of place on a 9 hole course and restrictions everywhere you looked. This was not made clear on Golf Now before booking, and all 4 of us were really disappointed. Unlikely we will go again, which is a real shame....
Pestering grounds man
I was very fortunate to have won a 4 ball on their par 3 spires course so yesterday I went to play with my guests, the reception staff could not of been nicer very helpful and attentive the course its self is very well kept, beautiful greens. My problem was with a grounds keeper who drove straight up to us in his buggy ,no horn sound and then persisted in questioning us as to why we were on his course. We were the only party that I could see that was dressed to the correct standard as everyone else was wearing joggers or football shorts and trainers. After him asking for receipts continually and us explaining that we had won this round he went saying he will " be keeping an eye on us" didn't like his attitude and will not return to this club for any reason other than a full apology from said man . If this is how your staff work I can see you losing many potential members.
The Brabazon at Covid-19 Time
It was a great pleasure to play the Brabazon following the lock down. The course was in fantastic condition and the greens ran very true. It’s a very strange and surreal time and the arrival to departure was very well organised. A credit to The Belfry and staff. There were no amenities except for a mobile van going around the course due to the current situation.
Nice company
Played here many times. Course set up well. Flags on the front of greens protecting think due to the weather. Ladies in reception really welcoming. And the Marshall on the 1st tee is always friendly and offers advice. Course is open so can afford to be a little wide. Can score well if on song. See you soon . Thank you Litchfield and tee times
