Best in the Area

For me Sitwell is the best course in the Sheffield and Rotherham and Chesterfield area.

Sitwell Park GC ( Rotherham)

Played here numerous times and it is always in good Nick . Avoid winter though as it struggles with water . Greens are very nice pace and hold a ball . It’s a great course to play in the dry. Clubhouse has a fantastic terrace and bar . Staff are great and professional is very good . There are some very interesting holes and probably one of the hardest and tiring finishing holes you will ever play . Personally I will play in again due to convenience of where I live . All in all it’s worth a visit .

Lovely greens on a well kept course

This course is always worth playing at least once a year. It’s a Mackenzie course laid out on some challenging fairly hilly terrain. The greens are beautiful and the course is well maintained. By the time, you have clambered up to the very hilly 18th green you are definitely ready for a drink at the 19th hole. Well worth playing this course.

Great Greens

Good course, highlights are the greens, very fast and true with subtle undulations which play with a lot of break, also features MacKenzie tiered greens where you need to play to the correct parts of the greens. Bunkers were quite bad, either minimal sand leading to thin shots or so many stones that would end up being blasted out onto the greens. Bit of a cold welcome in the pro shop also being asked to tuck in my golf shirt which in this day I find amusing. Overall at the golf now hot rate it was really worth it, don’t feel I need to play it again though.

Memories from long ago

İ was a junior member back in 1950's and had a handicap of 3. Then the course was recovering from overcast coal mining thst affected holes 2,10 and 3. İ am amazed at how course has changed. Lots of trees! Great improvement. Also, appears that various old fashioned hazards have been removed. For example, the mounds on 16 and 18 that were about 200 yards from the tee. İ had aces at 5 and 7. İ represented Sheffield Union ofGolf Clubs in several inter area events. Also, led qualifiers in Sheffied Union qualifying round, (71 and 76) in İ think in 1960.
Happy memories. Moved to Florida in 1978 and played for 5+ years in Jacksonville area. No longer play, but still love the game. Finally, congratulations on great improvements to the course.

Slow play

Good sunny day out a Sitwell . course in good condition , greens fast & true.
friendly service, good selection of food & drink afterwards. Only downside was pace of play a bit slow, over 4 hours for a 3 ball .

Tough but fair

First 5 holes really challenging going up hill and down dale but good fun. Greens excellent and fast. Playing in June means the trees are in full bloom so some narrow threads off the tee. Hot day so tired near the end with the uphill drag on 17 and 18 but fantastic course.

Nice to be back

It'd been a couple of years since the last outting at Sitwell and it was everything i remembered about it; challenging holes but each one with a unique feeling.

Despite being wet underfoot and having re-opened that day follwing heavy rains the course held up extremely well
