Holes closed
Very disappointed as the pro gave no indication that there were 5 holes closed not a Hot Deal under these circumstances
Going downhill
Having been a member of this course over 10 years ago I was keen to return and considering rejoining. However, the course is exhausted, it looks worn out due to being over played. It used to be tight with lots of trees, bushes, gorse and sadly everything has been cut down and it no longer has any character. Such a shame. I paid for 18 holes but only played 9 holes due to pace of play. However I think there were only 11 holes open which was not highlighted on the booking like others courses do else I would not have booked. Things certainly have gone downhill at this course.
Winter Gem in Doncaster!
Well it was my first time playing this course even though it is 5 minutes from home, a course I had passed many times without even considering it, how wrong was I to do this.
Out of the 5 courses I have played through December this was the driest of them all with only one temporary flags which was rather surprising, others had 5 - 8 temp flags with one course cutting par 5’s down to 89 yard par 3’a, won’t mention which ones though.
The course played very well with good greens though they will be much better in the dryer months. Nice and flat course overall which suited my age and body condition better than most around the South Yorkshire area. Pricing is very good and plenty of knowledge in the Clubhouse with friendly staff.
A very positive experience though and a course I will! be returning too regularly..
Only slight moan would be the need for clear signage on each winter tee as a few were unclear but the regular players on course were very helpful.
Fantastic place to visit though.
Great open course
First time playing here. Really enjoyed it. No tight fairways, greens in great condition and fairly flat so no big hills.
As a first timer, I would only suggest signage for the second hole that wasn’t clear.
But a great course and will be returning!
Well kept course
It’s a really nice course. Interesting that is it inside of the race course. The bunkers and greens are extremely well kept.
flat
after playing many hilly courses i was due to play on a flat one and this was very flat and a lovely easy walk round ideal if youre getting on in age
Compact, neat course- great greens
About my 4th time in playing this local course. Played mid afternoon for a good price it wasn't too busy either.
Had a little putt on the putting green whilst waiting for a slow 2 ball to complete the first- realised how fast this was which stood me in good stead. From achieving a Par in the 1st which was a great start for me I continued with this confidence and finished under my handicap.
After overtaking the 2 ball it was great plain sailing completing the outstanding 15 holes, no further hold-ups. Most of the fairways were in good condition but the greens were outstanding- very green and very smooth- plus fast!
There are similar tee areas 12& 18 sharing a large tee area one to the left the other to the right. Also 14 & 16 are parallel to each other . Meaning the course is compact but good how it all fits together within a race course! None of this spoils what is a good course.
Members were nice and friendly throughout. Similarly in the pro shop when checking in etc, I will be back- to coin a phrase.
Solid course
This course is a well kept course only issue is having it so open dog walkers allowing dogs to run across the greens buggy hire is pricey too
Always playable, slightly pricey at £26 twilight
Town Moor GC is a nice little golf club which is always generally easy to get on and is quite playable. Course layout is decent, give or take a few random members of public who hang around on the course (nothing the golf club can do about that). Could do with some new signage for holes as the drawn ones do detract from what is a nice course. Greens were in good nick and fairways still quite grassy in the scorching weather. We paid £26 which for 4.52pm in twilight time is higher than other local courses like Wheatley at £25, Styrrup £20, Bawtry £25 all of which are much better courses.
Pleasant round
Was concerned when we played £28 for a twilight round on bank holiday Monday but the course was in brilliant condition, having played various others recently that were boggy and wet. Greens were dry, fast and pure and the course in general was very dry and in great nick. The layout is solid if unspectacular with some challenging and interesting holes. Overall an enjoyable round and the pro is friendly, helpful and welcoming
Great friendly course
Great course, friendly staff and members, thinking of becoming a member due to friendliness and the course plus good value membership.
