A proper gem
From first impression to the last this gem of a club could not have done any more and well worthy of a visit if you happen to be local.
I was lucky enough to be paired up with a couple of members and they added so much value to the day.
Fairways and greens in fantastic condition
Loved it
The club has excellent practice facilities and the bar is a great space too with friendly staff.
Great job
Wells - July 21
Friendly welcome from club staff. Hilly, so probably best with a powered trolly. Holes interesting and switch directions often which IMO is good. Some very small greens, others larger. Greens fairways and tees all in good condition. Didn’t use the clubhouse but it looked immaculate so no doubts it would have been good.
Lovely course. Pro shop staff and starter were very polite and welcoming. Course was challenging, but fair with a great variety of holes. Greens were being treated, so were a bit inconsistent, but other than this the course was in great condition. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the local area.
Well worth a visit
Our first visit to wells won’t be our last. A warm welcome from the staff. Stunning views as you climb to the top of the hill. A course in good condition despite playing in February. An interesting layout with a couple of very testing holes. A good selection of reasonably priced food in the clubhouse. Great to sit in the sun and watch golf from the clubhouse balcony. Looking forward to returning in the summer.
Lovely course
Lovely course with nice views. Well maintained and,a friendly welcome. Highly recommended. Didn't use off course amenities so can't comment on these.
Wells Somerset
Nice course, shame about the amount of leaves on the greens & fairways.Would like to play this course in the summer.
Great course
Certainly worth playing although, currently, leaves on the course are a dire restriction.
Great views and challenging golf
I enjoyed the course, Tight challenging course
Spectacular views from several tee boxes.
The course is very narrow and demanding off the tee. Also, many small greens that are unforgiving of a slightly errant shot.
I enjoyed the course, but would want to play again only when I am back to an 18 or lower handicap. Not really a course for higher handicaps.
Good course, well maintained and friendly staff.
We enjoyplaying at Wells GC which is about an hours drive away. The course is challenging with mature trees offering challenges to keep the ball straight. The course does not have a lot of rough which can cause slower play so the pace of play was good. We were let through by a group of four members.
Will play at Wells again.
Great value
Excellent course testing holes for risk and reward players great views also really friendly staff and members who go out of there way to help,,great value for money would recommend and definitely play again
Great layout and friendly club
Despite this winters weather the course was in very good condition and played well. The layout is really interesting and challenging without being too clever. Everyone was friendly and helpful and there is a spacious driving range for a warm up before you tee off.
Great course and value for money
Love this place.
Very friendly staff and members.
Course was in immaculate condition for the time of the year.
A good test of golf with some long and tricky holes which make you think about position as well as distance.
Looking forward to going back soon .
Great course
Love this course, great people and perfect atmosphere.
However the pace of play needs to be monitored because some players simply do not understand the rules and do not allow players through.
Would recommend
Nice pro in the shop who was welcoming and helpful. Played a 2 ball on a Sunday morning and was quiet. Course was a bit wet in places but good for this time of year in comparison to most other courses. Great views of Glastonbury Tor from the top of the hill as well. Would definitely recommend. Can imagine it would be great in the height of summer.
Wells Golf Club
Beautifully landscaped mature golf course. Conditions were a little damp underfoot and fairway grass in need of cutting. Steep hills up and down between greens and tee boxes. Recommend a buggy if walking uphill or downhill I.S a problem. Greens beautifully cut and maintained with interesting lines.
A good day out, but attitude problems
I really enjoyed my jaunt around the course. I'd not swung a club in a few months so arrived early to use the practise facilities to warm up. They were pretty good and good value for money.
I was able to tee off early because the course was quite quiet. There was rain around and I got a few showers. It was very clear that there had been a lot of rain lately. The fairways were very squelchy in places. I had a few balls embedded on the fairway. As I was playing casually I was able to lift and place, but you'd be pretty peeved if playing in a comp.
The course was challenging with some fun holes. Not too many blind shots which is always nice.
My biggest gripe, was that I was finding myself fixing 3 or 4, sometimes more, pitchmarks on the greens. Some very lazy people out ahead of me. I really don't get the mentality of some people.
All in all a decent challenge and friendly staff and members.
