Underlying drainage issue detracts from an excellent experience
This was my first time playing the course in the winter (I've played and enjoyed multiple summer rounds). Overall the experience was a good one, however I feel more needs to be done about the fairway drainage issues. Particularly on high ground such as the 10th/18th fairways. Despite not having rained for 10 days there was still a lot of standing water and very soft ground underfoot on too many fairways. I understand around the low holes beside the iconic water holes but not on the raised ground. Greens were epic, nicely looked after course in other respects and great facilities. Course design is superb, even feels long off the yellows.
A true beast
Lovely course and challenging to any level of golfer .
Even though the course was water logged it still held a true test .
Greens in super condition.
Only negative was the 3 ball who made it a 4 hour 40 minutes round as they wouldn't let any groups through
Great Course
No Electric Trolleys, Course was a mud bath. They should have cancelled, but operators far to greedy.
Great course but bunkers need some work
A really good course, it was very wet when we played and wouldn’t need to be much wetter to be closed- no problems on greens which drain well but most of course was sodden. A number of bunkers now have tufts of grass in them and sand was just like playing off hard ground as no one appeared to have tried to rake them for weeks which was a shame on such a top course.
Nice course
Nice course, it was too wet though. Fairways were like a bog, so probably shouldn’t have been open. So 50 quid to play the course in that condition was disappointing. We were stuck behind a two ball who just wouldn’t let us through also, so the round took us 4 hours and 15 mins.
Beautiful Course, with stunning views and some great Golf holes.
Beautiful gold course, not a boring hole on the course. Would have been 5 stars but they had to work the greens but our price reflected this.
Poor Value in the condition it’s in currently
Very disappointing condition for the price of £85 per person at, especially after 3pm on a weekday. I know lots of courses have struggled with the weather of late, but I don’t expect my ball to be plugging on the fairway, at a course that’s advertised as a championship venue, in May. Perhaps they should reduce the prices until the course is more playable, as it is a decent track in the summer.
Better value to be found in the area at this time for sure.
Great course
I believe this is a premium course and even though the greens had been scarifierd and course is still holding water I enjoyed it .
There was a mizuno event on before I went out so expected the round to be slow however as this was the first time id played this course I enjoyed the layout .
100% definitely play this in the summer
Great layout
Fantastic layout, some great holes and great views. Price slightly on the expensive side, especially when having to pay for pre-round range balls on top, however this course is definitely a must play. Holes 5, 8, 10, 11, 13 and 17 are exceptional.
Thoroughly enjoyable
The Oxfordshire had a modern, resort type feel to it. The course is in excellent condition for the time of year, greens really good and lots of interesting, challenging holes. Got round in 3hrs 15 minutes thanks to a couple of very kind 4 balls who let me through, and staff in clubhouse all really friendly. I’ll definitely be back, many thanks.
Great course
This course was in great condition the greens were in fantastic condition although I had to fix a few pitch marks along the way, the pace of play was great for 9 holes then I was held up by 4 walleys in buggies that could have let me through but didn’t which was a shame! This course if done right could be like The Grove and give that tour experience feel to the joe average golfer, but £25 for 18 holes was the ultimate Barry bargain
Excellent course in very good condition
Really enjoyed our first ever round here. Course was busy but no serious hold ups. Plenty of challenging holes for golfers of all abilities.
