Casual round

The course was awful, greens were terrible, the fairways were like you were in the rough. On every hole we had to look for our ball even if we hit fairways because the grass was so long and with the mud on the ball it was just impossible to find it

A shame

The course was saturated, standing water on muddy fairways where good shots took some finding. The greens were in poor repair.
The course should really have been closed.

Very Poor Fairways

As a beginner, I found the fairways on the course dreadful.
Also disappointed that on GolfNow app I was forced to pay £28 due to availability.
When I got there , there was no one on the course??

The owner was a great guy, but he needs to invest in a lawnmower!!!!

Avoid if you like golf

The course is in a dreadful condition. There is more weeds than grass and there is little change between the fairway and rough. The bunkers are all out of action with 4ft weeds growing from them. No signage around the course difficult to navigate.

To top it off golf now's the price of £25 was high than what the cost is if you just turn up. I was told they hadn't updated their times but there was nothing they could do.

You would be better of chipping in your back garden for a couple of hours

A lot of potential

Greens were soft and very slow, often having lots of lumpy mud all over them making putting and chipping difficult. Had to clear a line from ball to hole on every green.

Bunkers were all full of grass and did not look like they should be in use. I hit into one fairway bunker with a GUR sign, however I didn’t see any others.

Rough was long and overall messy. Very difficult to find the ball if hit into the rough. I lost 2 balls alone from simply hitting into the rough with a clear line in the shot.

Tees have a number of divots, which is too be expected. In quite OK condition considering the amount of people playing this summer.

Fairways were mostly short and easy to hit from.

Overall, it was a nice parkland course to play but the condition of the greens and rough made the course a frustrating one to play. Were the issues to be fixed by the green keepers, this could be a lovely course to play.

Needs some love

Good course in need of some TLC. The greens need some work as very patchy and weedy.
The bunkers had more things growing in them than there was sand! I’m not sure if the rakes in them were for a vegetable plot!
The course layout and club are lovely so as someone whom has played here many times before I was very disappointed in the up keep of the course.

Not recommended.

At one time this might have been a decent course but it is currently quite jaded. It would need some serious tic to bring it up to scratch. It’s a shame because, properly taken care of, it could be a great course. In its current state it is overpriced.

Picturesque but challenging

Played Richmond Park for the first time today after booking through GolfNow. We were greeted with a very friendly welcome from staff and instructed how to find the first tee which is located across the road by the driving range. Myself being a 20 handicap and my playing partner off 27 we found this course very challenging. Tight fairways need very accurate tee shots but if you can manage that a decent score is achievable. We found the tee boxes were slightly long for our liking, all bunkers were GUR (probably a good thing). The greens played pretty true. A little more signage would be good to direct you to the next tee box etc. We found the back 9 considerably easier and more enjoyable. Overall good but tough course. Will go back tho

Disappointing

Arrived early in the hope of hitting a few balls before playing. Pro shop closed with a sign stating to report to the bar. Everywhere was closed. Went down to driving range in the hope of seeing someone to check in but no one was there. So we played earlier as we had paid. Thankfully we were following a 3 ball round so we knew where to go as signs to next tees were limited. Course conditions weren’t great with the fairways clearly not been cut for a while and greens were poor. Bunkers were shocking and still had rakes in. I know we didn’t pay the most for the round but was expecting a little more. If maintained could be a lovely challenging course.

Does what it says on the tin

The course is in need of some TLC , but paying £13 for a twilight round is good value , although I'm not sure I would want to pay full price in the morning .
The original half of the course , the second half is challenging and you have to place your irons carefully , so make a refreshing change from the battle of the drivers .

Enjoyable day

Found the lady in the shop very friendly and helpful and as we hadn’t visited Richmond Park before she handed us a very useful course planner. Found the overall layout of the course excellent however there were issues with some of the tees that were a bit unkempt and in need of some tlc. Found the fairways ok but the greens even though they looked good ran true but slow. The best feature we found of note were the trees on the course really framed the holes beautifully and you really had to be careful not to bring them into play as there were plenty of them !! The tee shot on the 18th is a huge test as the trees, and cross ditch are very imposing.especially as the captain’s charity fine involves pretty much every hazard going including the dreaded 3putt!!!!

Wet and windy

It was a wet and windy day, when we arrived at midday the pro shop was closed,no one to see to book in.
The course is hard to find your way around no directions to where the next tee box is etc.
The course overall is not to bad ,some challenging holes .
I would recommend a game but please just sort out the tee signs

Too expensive

Enjoyed the course but £30 is definitely too much. The green condition was very good and they ran true. The fairways were decent although fairly brown and a little bare in patches. My issue would be the bunkers. Very poor quality of sand and inconsistent I felt. Also for the price I would expect they would be a little more cared for. (I.e. The edges tidy etc). There are some really interesting holes that require thought. You definitely can't just thump the driver on every hole. There is a premium on accuracy on a lot of tee shots. I really liked the wooden buildings/cabins on site. I think it would be a nice place to stay and play. I would play again but not at that price.
