Good course with great greens
Very good course layout and a really picturesque course which matches the impressive hall. Lovely bar afterwards with friendly staff. The greens rolled beautifully and were to a very high level. The only thing that let the course down is the tee boxes, very worn and little grass coverage and also none that were flat or level so choosing somewhere to tee it up was limited and often meant teeing up on the opposite side to where you really need to. But overall I’d highly recommend the course and next time play if whites as those tee boxes looked much less used and in better condition
Great Course, Fantastic staff!
From the moment you enter the Dunston Hall site, it takes your breath away!
The Staff were extremely friendly and the facilities were beautiful
Would highly recommend to a friend!
Crazy rain!
Played the course after a huge thunderstorm and it held up really well. Greens were in good condition and the course is lovely. Tee boxes were a little muddy in places. Great value for money
Greens were basically bunkers.
So much sand on the really poor greens, I couldn’t believe it. For £40 a round I expected so much better.
Mr David Tortice
Played lovely, coupe of slow groups in front but ok
Shocking condition throughout
I’m surprised that the course was open. Have played this before last summer and it was just as bad but thought I would give it another chance because the layout is decent. The greens were unplayable, so long and slow and patchy it was not worth trying to keep a score.
Bunkers had long grass growing out of them and were full of footprints and stones.
Simply not good enough.
Excellent condition for time of year.
Friendly golf shop and good bar afterwards.
Definitely worth a visit.
Good for beginners/novices
Short parkland course that is ideal for beginners and novices. If you are a low handicapper I don't think you would find this very challenging. If you're accurate and can hit the fairways, you could shoot a pretty low score and if you're a big hitter, there are a few driveable par 4s. Opening and closing few holes are quite nice but it gets very plain and featureless in the middle. Greens had been heavily spiked when I played. Would not pay more than the £20 I paid on Golf Now if playing it again.
Dunstone
Well presented course and interesting holes reqiuirzs more brain than brawn
Great Value for Money Course
Course plays well for the price. Challenging, but a good score is there to be had if you play well. Can get a little dry in places in the summer months.
Needs RAIN BADLY plus a lot of SAND for BUNKERS
Weekend package £149 Bed, Breakfast, Evening Meal in Dunston Hall plus 2 rounds golf . Hotel NO PROBLEM 4 out of 5. I am now reviewing the Golf Course which I give 2 out of 5. Why 2 ? The cost of a buggy £25 is reasonable. The bar area both in and out very good. The Pro Shop helpful. The greens are as expected and fair to play on. However I am afraid the rest of the course, on this weekend, I found in a very bad condition. The white tees tend to be under trees , which means they are void of grass and those with grass have not been tended for some time. The fairways have not seen water for a long time and the golf ball just keeps running until it finds an obstacle to stop it. My furthest hit was 286 yards with a 6 iron, only a ditch managed to stop it. Ever thought of putting in a watering system ? Lastly and the most annoying 'THE BUNKERS' I understand the cost of a watering system but having NO SAND IN BUNKERS is unforgiveable. I have read other reviews re slow play, I did not experience any slower or faster than usual.
Slow Play
Sadly we ended our round after it took 90 minutes to play the first 5 holes. We raised this with the clubhouse on our return, who tried to suggest this was due to the early course layout. The lack of a course marshal and tee times too close together are the reasons in my view. Sadly this is not the first time I have been badly held up on this course, which is a shame as it is one of the nicest courses to play around Norwich.
I also raised these issues with Golf Now, but have received no reply, so unlikely to be booking through them again anytime soon, as customer service seems to be non-existent.
Busy Course
Played for the 2nd time in one week. Even course was busy the pace off play was very good in just over 3 hours for a full round. As usual you have to be straight off the tee or you are in trouble, which unfortunately I was in plenty of trouble. The course was in good condition other than the yellow tee boxes which were well worn with large area with no grass. Would play again next year when in the area.
