Recommend playing in summer but as a course it can’t really hold rain well. Too wet and very boggy
Fiver and a half hours of slipping and sliding in mud.
Played once before many years ago but this was a real shock. Tee’s scruffy uncared for. Fairways long grass, bunkers a disgrace, greens a neglected mess . Play was so slow as they allowed five balls to play. If we hadn’t been a group of twenty two trying to play a competition we would like the players in front of walked in. The whole place had no redeeming feature. SO WHERE HAVE THESE GOOD REVIEWS COME FROM.
Rough was far too thick
Overall the course was very good and kept to a fairly high spec however the rough in my opinion was far too thick and was almost impossible to find a ball in.
Extremely Slow Play. Poorly maintained.
5 hours to get round 18 holes. Tens of dead rabbits in the fairway, some so rotted they must have been there weeks. Winter greens in April. No sand in bunkers. Only good thing was the beer afterwards.
This course cannot handle winter conditions
I’ve played this course a few times in the summer and I love the layout of it, but due to the poor weather, most parts of the golf course were extremely poor.
Approaches to greens were sloppy, flooding on fairways and bunkers were mostly all flooded or under repair.
even when hitting the fairway, I lost balls as they just plugged and disappeared.
Wouldn’t recommend playing in the winter or after poor weather. Id wait until the summer when the course is in better condition, because it’s amazing to play normally.
Quality
Course in great condition. Some cracking holes. Well worth playing.
Seems well planned out
First time playing here and have to say was impressed, well looked after pretty challenging, as hazards seem well placed if your slightly off course, or under hit it.only been playing a year so novice player. Got round in 104
Staff we’re brilliant
Down from Newcastle staying over in Wigan it was the first time playing this course, staff we’re brilliant showing me all the amenities. Even took the time explaining the course. Weather was terrible to night before so course wasn’t perfect but playable. For the amount of money it was spot on, definitely would pay there again if ever in the area. Staff we’re outstanding!!
Good course, slow play
Good course, excellent condition. Greens, bunkers all in great condition.
Course should look at longer Tee times between groups. Ended up waiting for majority of holes after hole 5, with a group breathing down our necks.
Could not agree more with the fellow golfer. Playing the same course same day same unplayable in places holes, meeting other golfers all charged different prices up to £10 DIFFERENCE ,members being allowed to just jump in even when tee times were booked, the course on thar day and since should have been closed, seems like money over matter, spoilt what should of been a great presidents day out.
