Hidden Little Gem
What a fantastic little gem of a course. Course was in amazing condition considering the rain that had fallen then days prior to playing!! Greens ran true. Will definitely be back to play again. Highly recommend for all abilities of golfer.
Return to Chelsfield downs
Challenging course in great condition fo time of year. Better than most other courses. Highly recommended.
Good challenging course
1st time on this course, good condition , enjoyed the layout, tough in places but open enough to give it a whack on most par 4 and par 5’s . Not many spaces to book, which is the biggest gripe but will definitely be back !
Decent Day Out
Nice course played on a Sunday for a good price.
Greens a little uneven following recent rain etc but we enjoyed the track and suited us.
Staff took Coronavirus very seriously - shame we saw some not following instructions to not touch flags.
Overall a good experience
Great round
Ground round of golf with some challenging obsticles like the 3rd whole par 3
Good course
This is a well kept and interesting golf course, I enjoy playing it. However, this is the 2nd time I’ve played here and both times the pace of play has been really slow.
Good course
Lovely sunny day to play a course in pretty nice condition. Pace of play was very slow though, which was a pity. Have played this course before and if the pace of play is good, it's a very pleasant place to have a round.
played this course years ago when it first opened, and it has stood the test of time . Lovely roll on the greens and a really friendly and welcoming set up.
Great Condition
I can understand why green keepers and course managers have struggled following a very dry and warm summer but this course was in great knick. The greens were soft, an even green and very true. The fairways were pretty good but the tee boxes were struggling but all considering, pretty good. Overall an absolute golfing pleasure.
Good Value for money
Good value for money and friendly staff.a forgiving course with some nice wide fairways .Would definitely recommend it
Value for money
Although the weather was very windy and made the course pretty tricky, the overall condition was extremely good for the money. The pace of play was a little slow, which unfortunately is becoming all too common, but as the weather was reasonably warm, it didn't detract too much from an enjoyable day.
An amazing course to play Very well maintained even the par 3 at the 3rd has a light aircraft runway next to it!
Staff in every department always helpful and really nice menu in the restaurant. Highly recommended. Also has the best par 3 I have ever played.
Very good condition
Having checked the reviews on local courses to me, I read that the fairways and greens were in good condition.
We took a buggie, not a person in front or behind on a 12'oclock tee on a Saturday, tee boxes in great condition, fairways were great and greens were receptive but reasonably fast but very true. A really nice round, A
Chesfield Downs is a very well constructed and thought out golf course. Suitable for beginner and pro alike, it is both challenging and enjoyable for all levels of golfer. It features some very wide fairways, ideal for beginners like me who want a big target to aim at! The greens are very well maintained, along with the rest of the course. The course seems to cope particularly well with rain. The pace of play is good, my partner & I went round in a shade under four hours (Including some searching for balls!.) And if you do encounter any slow groups, they're always more than happy to tell you to play through. The 16th hole is a "killer", a long uphill par 5 that seems twice as long. All in all Chesfield Downs is well worth the money you pay for 18 holes, and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Nice but...
The greens are very good but the fairways could do with a little love and care. A very open course and therefore ideal to try a few things out.
My partner and I enjoyed our golf.
My partner and I enjoyed our golf, The conditions were perfect. We were precisely on time teeing off, we remained on time at each of the time checks. We did receive some criticism from the green keeper for holding up play. He had been mistaken as we had let a single play through as did the crew following us. That caused a bunching up. We were never caught up, our round was clear!!! A small point just one that took the shine off a little. This was the first time I'd ever played a full eighteen holes. Having received coaching then practise on the Par 3 at Chessfield Downs. Perhaps our mistake was playing at the weekend. We had sought advise from the club to be told that Sunday afternoon from 14:00 hours would be a quiet time to play.
Other members on the day were friendly
This course has great views of the country side and the greens are in top condition. Very easy course to find your way around as it's quite open. A lovely days golf in the sun and no wind.
Nice course but needs tlc
Played Chesfield Downs on 9/5 nice course, not too crowded or busy on course but car park rammed! Business and gym clients?
Course was very dry, fairways were bone dry and without water will be cracking up in no time! Bunkers weee rubbish, not much sand in many, rock hard underneath what thin sand there was, could do with attention!
Would play again, especially on a TeeOffTimes deal, not worth full price
