Lovely course, shame about the tee times
Played this course for the first time today & really enjoyed it. It was in incredible condition, especially considering the relentless rain we’ve had this winter. Only 1 temp green, all the rest were immaculate, as were the tee boxes.
My only frustration was that you can’t book a specific tee time here, so having booked and paid the day before, we turned up today to find it absolutely rammed with a proam on. The other slight niggle is that we couldn’t buy a drink with a card as they don’t have adequate internet signal. Instead we had to sit in the changing room for 20 mins to wait for the competition to clear the first tee.
Not boring at all.....
Smart and interesting course with some lovely holes good mix of long and short holes. Very enjoyable and varied.
Stripy fairways well kept course
Played Alresford as a family, so quite a spread of handicaps. Something for everyone; risk and reward for competitive handicaps but really playable and easy walking for the older members of the family. Two amazing consecutive par 4's at 11 & 12. Fantastic condition, stripy fairways and two or three different cuts for the rough. Lovely tree-lined fairways. We paid £38 per green fee; I have paid double that for courses no where near as good as Alresford. Looks like the toilets and changing rooms just had an upgrade so that's good too. Nice lunch on the patio right next to the 18th green; we could have stayed there all day! Would definitely be a member if I lived closer and definitely booking my society there.
Challenging but essy-walking course in delightful setting
Considering the time of year, a damp morning in mid-October, the course was in excellent condition and well maintained. Being situated on chalk downland - it's adjacent to the South Downs National Park - the course had no soggy patches. Tight fairways and numerous mature trees make demand a level of accuracy to clock up a good score.
The clubhouse bar always has at least two well-kept real ales on draught, with quality coffee and no-alcohol beer for those concerned about their licence.
