Cracking course and great value
The course was in great condition. The greens were excellent, we think there had been a competition the day before. It was very busy but the pace was good.
Great value, public course for all levels
Public course for all levels inc beginners. You'll see people walking their dog etc but great value for money. Condition varies a lot but it is usueally fair and sometimes good mat its best
best greens
just around the corner from Chingford Station, the greens are in great conditions bear in mind rain has been limited this year. nice layout. enjoyable round of golf
Limited facilities but good course to practice
There is no bathroom facility, only at the cafe/pro-shop when you start and finish. Sure it's easy for men but what are we, lady golfers supposed to do if they need the toilet? You can't just go to the bushes, it's on public grounds so lots of walkers on the footpaths. FYI: Car park opens just after 6:45.
Value for money
Friend and I had a great time playing Chingford / Royal Epping golf course. Greens were immaculate and course layout was a challenging but fair par 72. Pace of play was very slow (5hrs to complete a two-ball) due to a novice never playing golf before at a peak time of 0930 on a Saturday morning. Would highly recommend this course to others and will definitely look to play again soon.
Challenging Course, but very slow play
Good public course and great value for £10. Well kept and very challenging compared with other courses around the area with longer par 4s, fast greens and fairways that aren’t quite in tip top condition.
Pace of play would have been extremely slow had it not been for several groups in front that let me pass through. Can imagine it would have been far worse if you were in a 3/4 ball.
Excellent value for money
This is my local course. Play it at least twice a month. It’s an open public space so you get plenty of people walking their dogs in some parts. That does not detract from the golf. It’s a woodland course with smallish greens. At this time of year the greens are in excellent condition. The fairways have a good covering of grass as well. Good range of holes. You will need your driver and 3 wood off the teas. The prices are excellent and don’t think that means an inferior experience. Off course facilities are minimal. There is nowhere to shower or change. Well worth a visit.
Peaceful morning round
Quiet course early morning. The dog walkers can be a pain but that's it with a course on public land. It would be great to have bathroom facilities at hole 9 or somewhere during the game for the lady golfers. The only facility is at the start and end, or if you break it after 9 which is a 5 min walk.
Golf
Played the course and was very impressed with the fairways and the greens were the best condition I have seen on a course this year so far true fast and very little pitch marks. The course is tight and often hear golf balls hitting trees. The transition from hole 8 green to 9 tee is a walk back down 8th fairway and a bit awkward. But overall I enjoyed the course
Excellent conditions
The course was in great shape and greens best the have been in for a while
Excellent customer service with staff very helpful
Definitely coming back
Chingford Golf
Very nice afternoon round of golf, fairways in condition was very busy so a bit slow
Fabulous day on the course
I have been back to the course for a few times and made friends
Beautiful Setting
The course is set in Epping Forest which is a wonderful backdrop. The greens and fairways were in excellent condition particularly bearing in mind the dry weather. All three of us are over 70 years old and felt the course had a very good ballance of challenge without being too difficult.
