Par3's to get excited about 😁
Great course if a little quirky, greens very good considering weather we have had , overall well worth a visit , just be prepared for lots of walkers and dogs , staff were brilliant from guy in pro shop to lady in bar afterwards .
Will definitely be back to play again.
A great little course
What a great little course this is. Every hole presents a different challenge and requires some thought as to how to play it best. It really needs to be played a few times to get best results. Greens are adaquate but need some work. Best to play early in the morning to avoid walkers who have rights of way all over the course.
Lovely course -lots of walkers
Played on New Years Day. Really enjoyable course with lots of slightly quirky but fun holes. Some blind shots but nothing that seemed unfair. The only issue was the number of walkers, dogs, bike riders, horses, cows and kite flyers. Understandable as it was a sunny NYD morning but it did slow down the round. But who’s in a hurry to play golf anyway. Will play again.
Decent for time of year
Course was in good condition considering the time of year, must say when it’s a windy day it’s definitely a course best avoided!
All In all an enjoyable morning, tees where quiet and all winter mats where superb.
Will be returning come summer time definitely!
Good quirky course with lots of challenging holes! Good fun and will definitely be returning when the weather gets better! No temp greens even with lots of rain very satisfied’
The Best!
Pick the right time (early doors in the summer or afternoons) and you could be the only one on the course, apart from the walkers and joggers. This course is much more interesting than other local flat courses. Each hole is a challenge but there are plenty of birdie opportunities A stunning course with stunning scenery and views which is great value. Why go anywhere else?
Course with cows
Loved playing this course. We were the only ones playing. Not that long but exciting. Challenging par 3’s
Short but tricky course
Don’t be fooled by the short course. It’s tricky with lots of blind shots, some of which are just a lottery if you haven’t played the course before. A couple of very long carries on par 4s which are difficult for high handicap golfers.
Course is a little rough around the edges but certainly playable. Watch out for the walkers, who seemed unaware of any danger from flying golf balls.
Friendly welcome and nice club house.
Extremely interesting and challenging
The blind holes and punishing dips and quarries don’t leave much room for error on an unfamiliar course. Fascinating variety of holes that is really golf together with a ramble on the Cotswolds. Definitely for the physically fit.
Tricky with stunning views
Little hidden gem of a course. Beautiful setting and lots of variety over the course. Be prepared for some hill climbing however you won’t be disappointed when you see the stunning 360 degree views at the top of Painswick Beacon.
Painswick Course
Not every course new to be long to be a challenge .
This little one offert a test to beginner and experts.
It has some blind shots, blind green location and mixture of flat and hill.
One of the holes has a view 360 dgrees of the County down on your feet.
I will be back because the member made me feel welcome.
Challenging terrain
The course info states that the views are magnificent, and this really cannot be denied - wonderful vistas across miles of countryside from the top of the world!
Playing the course is somewhat of a challenge with steep terrain, nary a flat area anywhere, multiple blind drives (although markers show the suggested line to take), very slow greens, uncompromising rough and not one, but two shortish par threes requiring a quality shot to clear steep ridges to a green hidden behind. High handicappers and short or low hitters will find these holes almost impossible. On top of that we struggled to find the next tee on
It was a significant physical challenge just to get around the 18 holes. Hats off to the members for their strength and perseverance. - and a good supply of spare balls. There is also an element of danger - it's an 'out and back' course with shared fairways in each direction, so avoiding players coming the other way requires much care. Not only that, but there were hordes of walkers wandering around the footpaths across and alongside the course with no thought for the golfers - we were delayed several times waiting for them to move on or away. from the line of play.
Having said all this, I'd recommend it simply to say that one has played it; a bit like climbing Everest, K2 or Kilimanjaro. - an achievement, but not something many people do twice.
Pro was pretty friendly and helpful. We were desperate for a drink when we finished but the clubrooms were closed late afternoon, so we had to find a local pub.
Would I play it again? Highly unlikely - it's the kind of course that you have to play four or five times before you work out where to hit the ball to score well. And too many three-putts - you really have to bash the ball at the hole; the greens definitely need a good heavy roller, but we could see that it would be difficult to access more than half of them with such equipment.
Stunning views though......
