Normally good, but course in poor state
I play this course regularly and enjoy it. This was the first time this year, and the course was in a poor condition. Even considering the time of year, other courses have been maintained in a better state. Fairways were indistinguishable from the rough and the greens (often a good feature) were particularly 'blotchy' and pitted.
Disappointed
Having played here several times previously, I was very disappointed with the condition of the greens. They were all covered in mud lumps and no green keepers were seen all day.
It was a shame that it was left in such a bad condition when a simple brushing of the greens would have sorted the problem.
How is the course even open
Save your time and money and find a ploughed farmers field to play on! I’ve never seen a course so waterlogged but being a typical corporate track it won’t close in fear of losing a few quid. People teeing off when and where they like, worst course I’ve ever set eyes on.
Lovely relaxed course
Greens excellent.
Rough now grown long, so off the fairway = lost ball
Links course - 5 Lakes
Really enjoyed my round. It is very flat but still maintained interest. Rewarded straight drives and in very good condition. Will definitely be playing again.
Relaxed course
It is lovely to have a course with no-one chasing you and no-one holding you up.
It was cold though!
Slow play
Unfortunately, play was very slow. Almost 5 hours to complete a round isn’t great to say the least. Something needs to be done.
Other than that, it was great.
Course should have been closed
Although recent weather, I would rather have been told that the course was closed! It was totally unplayable with fairways ankle deep in water. Only placed 9 of the 18 holes paid for.
No good on a windy day
To be expected for a links-type course but extremely difficult to play in windy weather. Front 9 is very samey with little variety to holes which got a bit tedious.
For the start of November the course was okay but nothing to write home about
Quagmire
I would have been happier if I had been told that the course was closed! With the recent weather it should be. Access to tee boxes and fairways ankle deep in mud & water. Only played 9 of 18 holes paid for. What a rip-off!!
Very wet Course
The Course was very wet in places , the greens are not in good condition , the price we paid was very low but have paid the same and played excellent courses , this was the Links course , I don't know what the Lakes course is like , some more signs up for direction to the next tee would be helpful on some of the holes
