South moor

The course looked like it would be good in drier conditions, the reality is it should have been closed as most greens flooded and fairways were boggy.

Too wet to be open

Thankful for a round of golf in wet conditions, however the course should have been closed. The greens and fairways we’re lakes of accumulated rainfall. Every high shot was lost due to plugging.

Hidden gem of a course

I played this course at the weekend despite there being horrendous rain the course was open and in a pretty good state. Really enjoyed the layout and challenge of every hole, will definitely be heading back.

Nice layout but poor condition

The course is nicely set on the moorland with very pretty views and nicely kept greens. Unfortunately, the course was pretty much waterlogged on nearly every fairway. In places it was like hitting off of rice pudding with grass on. There was some new drainage channels cut, but I doubt this is going to make as much of a difference as is needed for the course to be properly playable. Also, as is the case with so many courses, the pace of play was unacceptably slow.

Busy Saturday

Busy Saturday. Slow three ball group ahead. Even slower bar food service- over 45 minutes for a burger. That’s ridiculous.

First time there

First time playing here, the greens are in good condition
Not a great course, quite a steep course, weather was very hot there were no benches to have a rest only found one on the 13th but was knackered by then so packed in way to hot. Others might like it worth £15 PP but not for me.

Hidden gem

Brilliant course - great greens, in really good condition and definitely a thinking course. No need to try hitting driver on every hole to score.

Sadly the course was extremely wet when we played. So it’s difficult to really give a decent review of this course. It’s a tough course physically so for those with any mobility or health issues, a buggy would be recommended. The holes are quite challenging and enjoyable to play. We played as a 2 ball and at a decent pace it still took us 4 hours to do 18 holes. I would play here again but it would need to be dry and I’d have a buggy next time. The club house was nice and the staff very friendly. I can’t comment on the food because the course was quite and they’d stopped serving food at 4, we didn’t finish until after that.

Lovely course

played this course several times, its well laid out and a challenge to play. Single player but was let through so around in about 2 hours.
Professional friendly and helpful.
Scampi and chips in the clubhouse afterwards was very good and the staff were very chatty and helpful.
all in all a great day and i will be back.

Great layout but picked the wrong time of year

The course was wet and boggy in places especially the first 4 holes but i did enjoy the layout, the views, the challenges and its a cheap round to be fair. Will probably return next summer

Stunning course and views

Highly recommend this course, may consider joining next year. Great test of golf, long, short and tricky holes with a good physical workout. Definitely playing again.

Watch the YouTube video before playing, well worth it and helpful.

Course in great condition

Another enjoyable round at South Moor. Greens in great condition, for anyone who hasn’t played here it’s a good test of golf, all holes are different, there are a few steep climbs, but worth the effort.

Lovely course.

First time playing and enjoyed it. Looking around the whole course, there was only two four-balls. I was eventually played through. Great condition. Was difficult to judge distances because only 150yrd marker was visible. Nice food and drinks at the end. Would recommend.

Fantastic course & great value

Played here for the first time to day and really enjoyed it. Course is hard in some places and forgiving in others making it a challenge for all, but not crazy difficult for a higher handicapper.

Course was in great condition and the greens were excellent 👌

Some hills but nothing major, added interest to the layout without it being excessively difficult physically.

It's also great value compared to other courses nearby.

Will definitely be back!
