Outstanding

I've played at Hobson on just one occasion before, last year at a similar time and was impressed then but yesterday me and my playing partner were blown away. The layout, particularly the front nine is very easy on the eye, with widish fairways but if you venture into the second cut of rough the ball tends to sit down which in fairness it should and it's fair punishment. The whole course was superbly presented from the cut of the fairways to the condition of the bunkers. The stand out feature however were the condition of the greens which were simply outstanding. Very quick and the truest greens I've played on in the UK and Spain this year with not the slightest bobble to be seen. Enormous credit and thanks to the green staff for a really great experience. I look forward to visiting again in the near future.

Excellent day out

From the moment you arrive it can be seen that everything is kept in pristine condition, great facilities driving range and short game area. Locals extremely friendly course and greens in fabulous shape only down side bunkers were compacted and hard, given all the rain we have had over the last few days the staff can be forgiven for conditions outside their control. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

Nice course

Really enjoyed our 3 ball today. Found the course layout really good with forgiving fairways but greens were grouped closely. I ended up on the wrong green twice. Greens played well and were quite quick. Some work going on preparing for the summer and a couple of gur areas but no issues. Will absolutely be back soon and can see this being a regular visit despite it being a 20 mile deive

Course in excellent condition for the time of year

Couldn’t really fault the condition of the course, considering it was 4th January and only 3 degrees C.. Only one temporary tee and no tempoaray greens, all of which played very true. As it was our first time playing here, my wife and I were glad we got paired up with 2 golfers who were familiar with the course layout, as there didn’t seem to be any course signage indicating where the next tee was. Friendly welcome at the pro shop. Trolley hire cost very reasonable (£2.50). Club house is a large, modern pyramid-like structure with very steep internal steps to access the bar on the upper level. (my wife struggled get get up them). Good food and drinks selection at very reasonable prices on offer (once you’ve climbed those steps.)
Would definitely play this course again.

Course was in nice condition despite a lot of rain in the previous days. Greens still rolled well in frosty conditions,. Was particularly impressed with the walkways between greens to next tees as they were nice and clean.

Slow on this occasion

Played this course quite a lot and it’s usually spot on however played today and the pace was so slow I had to leave after 6 holes. Literally stranded waiting for 15 minutes on each tee box. Poorly staggered.

A good knock for a high handicapper

This course has some nice long holes that provide decent opportunity to give your driver and long irons an outing. Fairways are generally wide and forgiving and for the most part the rough isn’t too harsh either. Due to the way the corse is later out you rarely feel like you have other golfers breathing down your neck. Fairly exposed and high so if the wind gets up then you could be in for an interesting round. All in all very good.
