Friendliness

Great course. Don’t like the interaction that hole 5 and 6 have. Front 9 is hard going on the legs. Biggie reccomended.
Love the back 9.
However the best thing about this course is the friendliness of its membership golfers. Outstanding.

Interesting layout, two courses in one and great views

I played the course following a week of heavy rain and freezing temperatures ( other local clubs were closed) so credit must be given to its drainage. Opening few holes have a parkland feel to it in places, then you get to the valley hole 5th and the course starts to become more of a links. Holes 11 through 16 are great holes so are 5,6,7,8 and 9. Front 9 is very hilly but worth the workout. Most holes have multiple tee boxes, so Teeing off locations change on different days altering the holes driving angles. Great views over Dorchester, Weymouth, Portland and the sea. A good golfing test, well worth the green fee.

Excellent

Had a really enjoyable morning.
Warm welcome from the professional.
Good short game practice vacillates.
Course in great condition ....... greens true.
Great views over the Downs.

Take some time to look at the excellent website about the history of the club "Birth place of the Ryder Cup".
Also the hole by hole as makes the blind tee shots easier.

What would make the experience better?
Solid colours for the tee markers as from the angle you walk to the tee from the green it can be difficult to see which tee to go to and better signage from green to tee.

Variety in every hole.

Came Down is a course to be visited and enjoyed. It really is one of the hidden gems in England though the weather has to be good to see it sparkle.

Great condition for the time of year

Considering the recent weather the course and the greens were in excellent condition. Work is being carried out on two greens by removing some trees, and this will make Came Down a lovely course to play on this summer.

Stunning course

The course is stunning. Grounds are perfect, scenery is stunning, staff are fab. Having some of the people playing who have no golf experience infront of us really slowed things down, but would play there regularly.

Good challenge

The course and the greens are in fantastic condition and play extremely well. The layout on the front 9 is the more interesting half of the course but the back 9 is a real challenge as you're completely exposed to the wind. A good challenge for all players.

Good course.
Not too difficult and not easy. Quite open.
Really difficult greens to hold in summer and pretty fast.
Fantastic views of Dorset.
