Torquay Golf Club

I have played this course quite a few times and it is a good course, old school in design but varied and good. But at present its condition isnt great - yes its been pouring recently so it was a bit damp, that's not its fault. However, two greens were out of use, looks like they are being reseeded - so one hole had a temporary green the was a whole temporary hole with green in serious need of mowing. A few of the greens were not great and Im no great golfer who wants it perfect.
I like the course but I wouldnt recommend playing it at present.

It is evident that the greens have suffered from a disease this year, they are very patchy and ball wanders a lot.
Weather conditions did not help as it was very wet and windy. However it was still excellent value for the price.

It’s a pleasant course but in poor condition this year.
Great views on some holes and some interesting holes.
Shame about the greens that appear to have had some recent disease and lack of growth in this clod and dry spring

First time playing the course as have 2nd property close by. Have to say the course was in excellent condition, greens very fast and fairways a little dry and firm but all in all a great experience.

Staff very friendly back at the clubhouse only disappointment was no food at the end of the round which at 5pm on a weekend a sandwich or baguette would have been very welcome.

The starter was very accomodating and even allowed me and my playing partner to go off 45 mins early as it wasnt too busy on the day. The group in front of us were very slow which was surprising as they had two buggies but we did not let that spoil our round and would definitely come back :)

2 ball high and low handicap players. Absolutely stunning course, challenging front 9, easier back 9. Staff and members extremely welcoming and friendly, especially Vicky in the pro shop. Highly recommend!

As you would expect the course is undertaking some work.. The weather won’t help as it was tipping down.

This is my closest club but not where my membership is and after this, it’s got me thinking!

The course is beautifully laid out with some short par 4 holes but nevertheless still challenging. An amazing view from the 8th tee and some great undulating holes.

The bar area is a good size and there’s ample practice facilities to fine tune your game prior to the start.

Really enjoyed the round. Were paired up with another two visitor’s who were good company. Staff were very friendly and the pace of play was excellent. A personal thing for me was the course was pretty firm and slopping fairways meant even good shots ran off into the rough. A few very short par 4’s that tempted you to try and drive them. Some great views from up on the high point of the course made in very much worthwhile playing. I would have given 3.5 stars if it was an option but feel able to give 4 stars. Certainly would not put anyone off playing here and it was great to get around as 4 ball in around 3.5 hours. Bar appeared to be closed so we didn’t go in but it looked a livery clubhouse and nice terrace to sit outside.

Really nice layout, brilliant staff but the greens have been hollow tinned and top dressed with sand, making putting a lottery and reading the greens really hard.

Apart from being behind a four ball, the round was perfect.

Arrived at the course and checked in at the pro shop, and headed off to the first tee. Found out after ten mins of waiting, first three holes of course not in play (noT told from pro shop when checking in, golf now not aware). Started on the forth hole, temp tees, temp green, and already shot course, playing 1000 yards shorter than normal. Only 8 holes playing proper distance. Left course and went and played elsewhere. Don’t waste your money.

Played today with my two sons during our Easter break in Brixham. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. From the moment we arrived, all of the members were really friendly and this continued in the clubhouse.

The course was challenging. The strong wind made it difficult and the greens were really hard so we really had to think about our approach shots. The greens were quick and we definitely lost shots on our putting. There are some great views, particularly on the 7th.

We really enjoyed the course and the friendliness of the locals, would definitely recommend.

Myself and 2 friends really enjoyed the course. The tree lined fairways and variation in holes really made the course enjoyable with receptive greens that have a true and pure role which I loved.
The only downside we felt was a few holes midway through were it’s cramped in and ur crossing fairways and green off the tee’s and all of our gps devices read the course wrong due to these changes and them not updating the measurements.
But saying that we all said we would play there again.

Great day and great course , first time played this course and first game this year and well worth it. Looking forward to playing here more in the future. Thanks for a great day of relaxation and exercise and great golf.

I know the pro staff well at Torquay, and always get a warm welcome. I am a member at Teignmouth but took advantage of the voucher supplied by American Golf, as I hadn't played at Torquay for many years.
Unfortunately nobody else booked in at the same time, so I played on my own.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course which is in excellent condition. They are going through some design changes at the moment, so there a couple of temporary holes, which throws the GPS out a bit, but didn't detract from my enjoyment.
