Lovely 9 hole course

Views are amazing and the course is nicely laid out. The second 9 holes are the same as the first but with different tees. We didn’t play them though because the course was so wet. There were areas you could hardly walk, squelching through mud and if you caught the ball heavy you had a mud shower. Not pleasant. I would definitely come back and play again but I’d have to be sure the course was dry.

Very poor course

Greens are awful,no yardage markers on the tees ,it's more like a chip and put condition you would find in a city. Won't be back it is advertised as an 18 hole....when it's a 9 hole course

Good value for money but only 9 holes & poor condition

The course was a nice layout but it didn’t match up to my gps watch.

The score card was a photo copy A4 paper folded up

And the first tee was about a 10-15 min walk from the ‘clubhouse’

Not much selection for drinks / snacks.

Sum really nice holes but the condition off tees & bunkers let this course down.

This course used to be 18 holes, but now is 9 holes only. We hadn’t realised this before booking.
In our opinion, it has lost some of its best holes.

Cheap for a reason

Paid £10 a round. Seemed very cheap but on arrival was told that only holes 3 to 11 were open and the greens were either hollow tined and sanded or just rough. Feel that the information on the condition of the course should have been available before booking.

Golf

Course was ok but the greens where very poor and getting round the course was very awkward could not find all tees. Have played many years ago but not great this time. Staff friendly but from a golf point of view disappointed

Disappointing

Considering the location of the course it is a shame that it was in such poor condition as it has real potential. Greens were brown, not cut and slow, fairways more like a field and was boggy throughout. Golf now also does not state that only 11 holes are open so don’t currently book on here!

Liked. Would visit again.

Pleasantly surprised with our visit given some of the reviews didn’t seem the best. Great day was had though. Not overly busy, nice course layout and managed to get a cheap GolfNow deal. Some of the fairways were quite over-grown though, and rather ironically the guys cutting the grass didn’t seem to want to move away from the greens as you played towards them. All in all a good visit. Worth the money.

Highbullen afternoon

Played here before so knew what to expect. Course was quiet and that suited us. Course in good condition although the greens were a bit bare in places. Like playing here so will come again.

Holiday game

I played this course whilst I was on holiday in Ilfracombe and found the course very picturesque and quiet.I thought that the greens were very poor and it spoilt what was otherwise a pleasant afternoon game.

Nice Surprise

A lovely day with only two negative observations.
The fairways simply need cutting and there should be signage directing players to the next tee on ALL holes as it is not always obvious.

More of a field than a golf course

This is an excellent hotel with extensive grounds, parts of which are roughly mown to enable people to hack a golf ball through the fields. As a golf course, it is in dreadful condition and is poorly maintained. Can be a nice venue for a short break if you are not serious about your golf

18 holes in the dry

Blessed with good weather for our round. Unfortunately , I’m sure hampered by the weather, the grass was a bit a longer than usual and spotting balls amongst the daisies proved a problem at times. Also, mown grass was left on the ground in places so balls could disappear underneath. On a positive note, it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, we like the layout of the course, and we’ll back again soon.

Outstanding value

Played here for the first time and was really pleased with the layout .
There was a couple of negative points the first being that the shop wasn't open but considering the location we guessed it was due to covid .
The greens where slow and very bobbly .
The course layout was really enjoyable and the par 3s would be welcome on any golf course .
We will definitely be returning and touch wood the greens will be a bit better
