Course Closed, No Notice given
Booked my round of golf for myself and 3 friends around 2 weeks ago and was due to play Sunday 6th Feb at 9:40am. 2 travelling from Liverpool and 2 travelling from Manchester. When we arrived at around 9:05am, we entered the pro shop only to be told there won't be any golf today and the course was closed. I asked them why we are only being told this now after we have spent the last hour travelling, paying fuel and toll fares. I was advised that they didn't have my contact details. Having checked my reservation and confirmation email, my contact details, including mobile number are clearly on there. I totally understand that the course had to be closed due to bad weather the night previous, but I don't like the fact that nobody thought it would be a good idea to actually ring me to tell me this, so we didn't waste our time in travelling and paying out fuel and toll fares. To then also advise they didn't have my contact details, when GolfNow have shown me the confirmation that was sent to Pryors Hayes, which clearly has my mobile number on.
A v good course and improving
This course is benefiting from some sound investment to course and amenities.
The welcome is friendly with and great bacon butty and coffee available pre tee off at a snip of a price.
Course reasonably flat but with varied styled holes to play. Various water hazards dot the course to provide a targeting challenge. Inspite of the water, considering mid winter, the drainage is excellent and certainly one of the best winter courses in the area.
The owner is very hands on and friendly and often dressed like a greenkeeper makes himself easily approachable.
Seriously considering joining this club
Snail Pace
Just come of the course, after playing just 2 holes, nearly 40 minutes, not prepared for another 16 like that, theres was just a 2 ball golf cart, and a single guy in front of me, very dissapointing , on a really sunny afternoon, cant fault the young lady in shop, as she let me go a bit early, it was fantastic a few weeks earlier, maybe picked just ine of those days
Brilliant course would love to see it in the summer
Really enjoyed my round here, clubhouse/staff where nice and inviting. The course its self is really well maintained, it's clearly into its summer transition where I would like to see it properly, few GURs from winter still in place.
But overall brilliant course and one to definitely try I will be going back
Where am I?
Overall the course is good, some nice easy holes and it’s well laid out. My only criticism is that there is no real definition between the rough and the fairway. The rough is quite short and way to escape but the fairways are longer than I am used to. When planning your target line you don’t know where to aim because you can see where the fairways are. But like I said, on the whole, a nice course.
Good but a bit overpriced
Played here with 2 others, the weather hasn’t been great lately but the ground was still fairly firm with no obvious drainage issues which is good. The main issue we found was the fairways didn’t seem to be cut very well, barely any noticeable difference between the lie on a fairway and the rough. The greens were very slow, but that’s probably due to the weather lately. Wouldn’t say it was worth the money for the course, but it probably would be in summer. 1 definite positive was no winter tees (yet, not sure if they bring them in)
Lovely well run course
Another enjoyable day at Pryors hayes ,course is in great nick and a lovely 19th to wind down in after round..
Enjoyable experience
Enjoyed the course, green were slow, and Sun on first few holes, so couldn’t see the ball
A few teapots about who maybe would play better if they thought about what they were trying to achieve. Otherwise a very a very pleasant and enjoyable game of golf..
Lucky find
Really nice course. Very well kept! Nice club house with really good practice area.
Course is a good test of length but some really nice tricky short holes as well.
Looked for a course between Chester and Manchester and very happy we chose this course. Will definitely play again!
