Finally played this course after several attempts. Overall a very good experience and I will be back. First I will list the cons:
The green fee is too expensive at 990 DKK or $140 USD. The club clearly caters to domestic and international business clientele but what about the average socioeconomic golfer who loves the game and is getting priced out? Secondly, the club is TOO self-service. Last I checked COVID was over in DK. There is no pro and no pro shop. You must do everything either online or with the touch screens in the lobby. Every time I have been there I only saw one employee which was the bartender. Since their business model relys heavily on tech you would think it would be seemless and reliable. First time I tried to check in online and it froze, the second time I used the touch screens and they just continued to spin. Lastly, there can be quite a bit of goose dung on the course
Now for the pros: the layout is top drawer and the routing is really good. There is a really good flow to the course with a nice variety of holes. One of the common online criticisms about Royal Golf is that it is too difficult. Yes that is what makes this sport special. I think this could be a reflection of an 18 handicap playing the 62 tees (6200 meters or 6800 yards). There a number of forced carries which makes you think about the club you need and the shot you want to play. This is not a bomb and gouge type of course. The conditioning of the course is very very good. Yes there are some bare patches here and there but the greens roll really good, the best I have putted on in DK. Overall I would give the course 5 stars but the service for price paid is lacking and needs to be improved
The condition was perfect!
It's a pretty course close to Copenhagen, capital of Denmark! It's a young course, but the condition was amazing! Best greens I've played in Denmark. The layout is for me too difficult and I think Royal will change some of the holes and greens in the future, to make it more playable. All in all a very good experience and I will come back!
