Course Reviews

Course Name Pennant Park
Location Whitford, Flintshire, Wales
Comments from Mark, Hollywell, Flintshire, Wales
Pennant Park is a relatively new course, it opened in August 1998 and with the recent completion of the magnificent clubhouse it is set to become on of the north west's finest golf club's. Set in the north Wales country side this parkland course has stuning views across the river Dee and the Wirral Peninsular. Feature holes include the 200 yard par 3 6th with it's tee shot across a lake onto a raised green also the 397 yard par 4 slight dogleg 14th which has a vertical drop of around 100ft and a green guarded to the rear by thick pine forest. The short par 3 16th which is modeled on a similar hole at new St. Andrews in Japan, has a saucer green surrounded by bunker's, a difficult challenge for any standard of player.

This course is only a few years old but it is very well established. Every hole on this course is a challenge and the greens can be a card wrecker if not read correctly. The 14th hole with it's views, must be one of the best holes of all Welsh golf courses.
Good food and friendly staff; very enjoyable day out.

Whitford golf course is one of north Wales finest golf courses with every hole as challenging as the next, my personal favourite is the 11th hole, a par 4 with a daunting tee shot as you look at a sharp dog leg to the right, you always contemplate to cut the corner, but if you slice slightly you have to pay the price as the out of bounds are looming. The 14th is a cracker with the steep drop, and so is the 17th with the water covering the front of the green leaving a difficult chip. Whitford first three holes must be the most challenging golf I've ever played, the 494yard uphill 1st hole confirms this. And the accuracy needed on the second and third tee shots as well.

With Pennant Parks new clubhouse and golf buggys it must be the best golfcourse in the area.

Whitford Golf course can be a very nasty pasty, especially the greens, they can boggle your mind up good style.

Whitford Golf course is a Belter! Off the 7th hole, I once hit a 3 iron into the water, I must have hit it as sweet as a nut.
