Best new course I have ever played. Fairly hilly with huge greens. This is a desert course, so much better off in fairway. The green fees were around $45 with cart. One of the best values I've ever experienced. August/00 |

WARNING ABOUT PAA KO PLAYING TIME. TRY 6 HOURS + Paa Ko, on the east side of the Sandia Mountains, a few miles from ABQ, is spectacular and difficult. This is about to become one of our most discussed and played courses. We have played it a number of times, but NEVER AGAIN ON WEEKENDS. The start times are 9 minutes apart. Yesterday we required 6:30, Yes, 6 hours 30 minutes to play 18 holes of golf. The course is very difficult, unforgiving, long, bounded by deep rough with fairways that run sharply up or downhill. A mid fairway Tee shot often winds up in deep rough. So, 9 minutes between group is absurd. The only reason we finished in under 7 hours is that foursomes ahead and behind us simply quit. The foursome in front probably lost 50 balls between them. I am a fair country golfer and I lo! st 6 balls algother. Three on one hole! My friends are 13 - 15 and no one broke 100! And we have played this course several times in the past two months. When we complained all they did was to tell us how long it took to play other area courses. None of them charge $60. and all are under 6,500 yards. August/00 |

Best Golf Course in the state. What an incredible test of golf! Anyone who does not like this one needs to take up tennis. Beautiful vistas, plush fairways and greens and first class service from the cart boys all the way to the club house. Yes, the round did take a little long (5.5 hours) but who the hell cares, being stuck on something this perfect for even 6 hours is a blessing. I am a 5 handicap here in Dallas on some really tough golf courses but while on vacation I played Paa-Ko 2 times and could do no better than 80. I hit 11 greens in regulation one day and still shot 81. The course demands skilled shot making from tee to green and does not let up once you are on the greens. Good luck and plan for an extended round that you will enjoy more than you can imagine! July/01 |
